Chair Car Reviewed proposals. Share-A-Ride had lowest three year proposal, had provided the required backup material, ie auditted financial statement, and has been providing the service competently. Committee will recommend the contract be awarded to Share-A-Ride. 2. Marketing: C. McKenzie suggested going to first PTA meetings at each school and discuss LEXPRESS--also go to PTA Council meeting. N. Santosuosso suggested that we target the areas that need the bus. Offer free round trip to Mall, and let the Mall pay. Concern expressed about the Mall because it takes shoppers out of Lexington--we want to support the Chamber. Could we get some local businesses to buy tickets to give to shoppers when they spend a certain amount in their stores? Such as The Gap? CVS? Santosuosso is willing to contact businesses to seek support. Need to contact key people rather than a general letter. People such as Sheldon Spector of Raytheon. Flyer around map--need a theme and ideas. Ideas: Go For It! You Saved Us--Now We'll Save You! Gas Taxes are going up! The Environmental Year--Don't Drive Don't drive your kids. Lexpress--More efficient use of your time and resources. It's the Environmental Decade--LEXPRESS efficiency--Saves Time, no need to drive, no need to drive yur kids! Saves Gas--No more driving. Saves money! Lexpress can help--Save the environment, Save Time-less chauffering, Save Money--no gas, insurance etc. increases, Buy a Pass. Leave your chauffering cap at home. Mailings to kids--too expensive. Should get material to gas stations and service centers. School Calendar--we should print that again, it doesn't require redoing the map. Get a flyer added to the PTA newsletters--we have to pay for the printing, but the PTAs will add them. Material into the COA newsletter. i Pass application--should it ask how people heard about LEXPRESS and why they buy a pass. Routes: Struggled with how to make the Route 3/4 combination short enough to cover the route. Decided to use Sunnyknoll to get to Reed Street, and won't go down Reed Street. Which routes should be on the half hour and which on the hour? Routes 1 and 7 will remain on the half hour but we need one more. Ridership on hour routes at 7 a.m.: Route 2=7, Route 4=13, Route 6=2, Route 8=10. Shouldn't put Route 2 or 6 on half hour because it will really be bad timing for the middle schools. That leaves Route 3/4 combination or Route 8. Route 8 could leave at 7:30 a.m. and still get high school kids to school on time, probably. That is a problem with the 3/4 combination. But if Route 8 goes to half hour then all the half hour routes are on the east side of town. That really doesn'tmake sense. Need to talk to Sally Castleman and Fred Rosenberg and Webb Sussman although Webb doesn't live in Lexington anymore. Should look at school bus routes to see what areas need Lexpress--they aren't available yet. Map Ads: Not a good return on repeat ads. S Arnold will see if Massport might want to take out an ad.
