III . Committee discussion after Steve S. left. Reviewed SAR

operation, excellent maintenance program. Committee discussed
Mr. Zimmerman' s visits to Bill Mix' and Pauline Burke' s offices
trying to get information on TAC' s position, and his continued
lobbying for ElDorado. DZ also said he was actively pursuing
unionization of his operation to benefit his other interests. He
also threatens lawsuit if SAR gets contract.
It was suggested going to bid again by stating the amount of the
appropriation ( $232, 500) and seeing what operation a bidder can
come up with for that figure. Has Town ever done this?
Discussed if contract awarded to SAR, can we negotiate certain
things, e. g. penalties, vehicle, back-up options. PB will ask
Rick.
Decided to report to Rick some questions about going out to bid
again ( to see what we can get for $232, 500) . Otherwise,
committee recommends SAR but final decision is Rick White' s.
IV. MBTA PB reported the MBTA is considering requiring lift-
equipped vehicles on suburban program contracts. In planning
stages for future. Asked for input and reaction.
