Meeting with D Zimmerman because Safety Transportation, ie Peter Picknelli, no longer wants the contract but will underwrite Eldorado Transportation, operated by Zimmerman who will provide the service Safety Transportaion has decided it is too far away. Bob Hutchinson says we can contract with Zimmerman as long as he meets all the terms of the contract and is operating a legitimate business. Eldorado will comprise about 1/6 to 1/7 of his total companies. Vehicle specs are being changed to one that doesn t require 6 month lead time. They will be fiberglass vehicles without steel reinforced cage because steel will compromise the design. Eldorado buses have a good reputation for this kind of service. They have a Ford engine and a Ford chassis. Interim vehicles need to be DPU inspected. New vehicle chassis are already in the factory. Zimmerman reported that he will use Arthur Silva for maintenance, and he has done deisel work before. He will lease a garage in Bedford. Al Standard Gulf will do standard maintenance These 6 vehicles will be added to his fleet of 40 vehicles in Newton and the ABCD headstart vehicles Zimmerman agreed to submit a maintenance program that he plans to perform beyond the Ford recommendations, including rotation of the 6 vehicles. We discussed the issue of drivers handling money. Zimmerman agreed that drivers can sign a statement saying they will not handle money. He also will put spotters on the buses periodically. Discussed two way radios. One is needed in the town office building. Frequency is a problem. Zimmerman reported he will have a pool of drivers who will be rotated to alleviate boredom and so as not to get too close to passengers He needs to run a correy check on drivers to know their history. They should drive 4 days a week, 10 hours a day, will have 6 drivers for breaks All will be DPU certified. Starting pay will be $7 per day for 60 days, then $7.25, then $7.50 after 6 months He will start with discipline procedures about smoking, etc Linda will be supervisor and a back up driver Discussed need for an assistant. Zimmerman said the supervisor will not drive as a regular driver, just back-up Zimmerman reported that there will be brooms on each bus and the drivers will sweep them out twice a day. Sparkle Car Wash goes to the site and will be used to wash the buses. It has to be scheduled. Zimmerman agreed to provide a list of the companies he is involved with and how many vehicles are used in each. Questions raised about P Picknelli signing off on financing the vehicles It was agreed that first Zimmerman and then Hutchinson would call Picknelli
