HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-10-23-TAC-min.pdf Minutes -- TAC Meeting Oct 23 , 1985 Present Chuck Stevens , Webb Sussman, Elaine Dratch, Sally Castleman, Joyce Hals , Bill Mix, Lance Neumann, Sara Arnold 1 MBTA - Sally wants to write an article about the use of the new routes - Anyone knowing people who use the "T" to commute should let Sally know 2 Bike Path - Will be discussed at Selectman' s Meeting on Monday, Oct 28 - Committee should make a statement - Uaanimous support expressed - Sally will write up a statement -- to be presented by Joyce Hals at the meeting 3 Christmas Promotion - Rewrite Westport ' s poem, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" - Theme "Give LEXPRESS for Christmas" - Poster -- Display at stores, churches ; emphasize tickets and passes - Get a photo of Paul Marshall as Santa Claus selling LEXPRESS tickets -- Committee present with elf hats - Use photo on posters - Sell tickets -- Christmas Open House night in Lexington Center for 1 hour - Sara will call the Chamber to check on this - Have taped Christmas music - Sell tickets and passes in a gift envelope - Buy some block ads in the newspaper 4 Passenger Count - Money is down -- fluctuates a lot -- day to day-- there are no patterns that can be obviously seen - Need passenger count - Nov 5th & 6th (Tues & Wed ) -- do 2 buses each day - Volunteers Zoyce -- both mornings 7-8 30 Bill -- " " 7-9 00 or Webb will do one morning if Bill is out of town Sally -- can help Nov 6th Elaine - 5-6 30 Wed Bill -- 12-1 if necessary - Bill commented that ridership may be down due to driving habits (too fast) 5 Gray Line - Has not signed contract -- does not want any commitment to the Town - Decided to suggest a 30-day escape clause and again recommend that they supply their own wording - Sara will inform Bob Hutchinson of the current status on this issue Minutes -- TAC Meeting Oct 23, 1985 -2- 5 Gray Line (cont 'd) - Gray Line has received their EOTC vehicles -- we do not know if they are being used on the Lexington run 6 Vehicles - What method should the Town use to procure vehicles? - Is there any way EOTC could help get vehicles? - All feedback from EOTC regarding this possibility has been negative 7 LEXPRESS -- Budget & New Contract & Vehicles - Base budget on $25 per month - Sara will talk to Larry Chait - Lease -- Purchase - Contract -- we should allow contingency bids ; perhaps contrantnr should be allowed to keep a % of the fares so that he cared more about collection procedures - Need to make decisions by end of December - Go out to bid -- late Jan -- early Feb - Vehicles -- Thomas, Carpenter, & Blue Bird put a bus-body on a truck chassis ; the Market for small buses is about the same as 3 years ago Webb will call manufacturers to get information sent to the Town B Next Meeting Tentatively Nov 13th
