PRESENT Sally Castleman, Joyce Hals, Fred Rosenberg, Jack Eddison,
Sara Arnold
I LEXPRESS--New Contract
-Current contract expires June, 1986
-Current buses have had a lot of problems
-Originally we had hoped the current buses could go for 4 years-
but now we are not sure of that
-Sara reported that a lot of work has been done on the buses,
perhaps they could go a fourth year, but we will only know as
we get into this winter Perhaps we should include a one-year
option in our bid proposal
-Fred asked about the Town ordering buses that the contractor
would then have the option of buying
-We should ask Bill Mix about what type commitment a manufacturer
needs when ordering a bus
-Sara suggested extending our current contract through Dec , 1986;
then going out to bid for a contract that begins Jan 1, 1987
This would give the new contractor 6 months to order and obtain
vehicles
-Sara will speak to Bob Hutchinson about this concept
-A big question will be what vehicles we want to use
-We should check with Natick, Gray Line and the MBTA about start-
ing problems
-We should find out about the number of bids and the prices re-
ceived by Natick and Needham
II Current Service
-We have had a small school bus available all summer--but it will
go back to doing school runs in September--Sara is concerned
about the potential downtime, especially in the winter
-Sara will ask Transcomm "What would it take to have a 6th
vehicle in the Lexington area at all times?"
III Marketing
-Sally recommended we offer Free Rides Sept 4, 5, and 6
-Discussion of the $ Sept pass also followed; Sara reported this
was popular
-Joyce recommended doing both
-It was decided to offer both, if we can get the necessary ap-
proval
-Sara will get approval from Bob Hutchinson
-Sally said we need an insert for the School Newsletters and COA
Newsletter that can be added as a filler -- as they have space
She will speak to Lili about this
IV MBTA-Hartwell
-The MBTA did not add Hartwell to its Rt 76 route
-Sara and Alan Castaline from the MBTA dhcve the route and found
it would take an additional 10 minutes This would throw off the
synchronized times of the #76 and #62 going through Lex Ctr
-Sara will ask Alan to work out the specifics

V Gray Line
-Complains that Hudson & MBTA are taking away their passengers
-Their ridership has dropped substantially -- they May have to
make more cuts in service
-We should call David Kravitz and ask how many Lex passengers
are really using the Hudson service
