1 Gray Line
Sara distributed background information of contract negotiations
that have taken place since we went out to bid, including Gray Line 's
proposal for continuing on a one year extension
Bill Daily expressed that passengers expect a fare increase
and have seen a ridership drop so can accept a cut in trips
Concerns about vehicles expressed Our condition to Gray
Line should be that the EOTC buses are not used for other commuter
services, and we still do not want school buses or doubledeckers
We will not require radios We should also stress the nedd for
adequate safe vehicles
Two questions to resolve about Gray Line What about Bedford?
Date of implementation----Board of Selectman could approve May 29th,
announce week of Jun; 6, change June 10th at the earliest Fare increase
can be done eitherObr Aeg 1---- Gray Line can decide
2 PASS FARES DISCUSSION
Pass prices have not been raised for 3 years We may have
to raise fares next year if contract prices are high There should
be a 1 month pass avaiIa$ibe any time Regular commuters should
pay more: either charge a separate fare for those over a certain
age, or those who get 12 months should pay more than those who
get 10 months
Can we get discounts for pass holders, such as at an ice
cream store, candy store or a book store? Perhaps where there are
senior discounts ? Larry pointed out that discounts are a
managerial headache for businesses--but worth a try Sara will
get infomation from the MBTA
Bea suggested all pass prices for seniors be raised $5 and the
regular yearly pass be raised $5 00 The few people left were
agreeable, but there was not a majority represented There will
have to be a telephone poll
Questions which were raised How many adults have yearly passes?
How many Sept Special passholders bought another pass?

-\ for 14 tickets Polling of members must be done
4 MARKETING
"Little Phone Book" offers space for about $300 We are
not interested, but there should be a transporation section
Sara should call or write publisher
If we could get computerized labels from the schools we could
contact certain age groups A mailing to current pass
holders should be done Lollipops should be distributed
at Discovery
5 TAXI COMPANY
A complaint has been raised about Arlex service Committee
members have heard of or have had similar experiences
Sara will find out who is responsible and perhaps inform the
selectmen of the issue
6 OTHER
Low step is needed on Lexpress but building something and
providing it will probably cause too much trouble for the
driver and could be a liability issue
I Volunteer passenger counters reported ridership was 17%
seniors, drivers report an average of 13% are seniors
