1 Bus Decorating Contest
Sara displayed the entries
{ There was discussion of how we could incorporated the
ideas for the parade
Sara suggested an idea of hers be incorporated with one
of the entries This involved putting signs on the
bus saying- LIBERTY VIA LEXPRESS for seniors
for students
for parents
for commuters
It was decided to give first prize to Gina Coplon and
use her entry on the front of the bus and to use Sara' s
idea on the side Lill will help with the details
Gina will be invited to help decorate Second prize
goes to Marc All other entrants will receive a book
of LEXPRESS tickets All entries will be displayed on the
back of the bus
2 MARKETING
Sally reported that our counting on LEXPRESS shows a
drop in ridership Sally would like more aggressive
marketing A discussion of reliability, an ad in the
paper, free rides, and coupons followed There were
{ no conclusions
Sally expressed that if ridership continues to drop
we may have to look at a more limited service, using
only three vehicles
3 META PROPOSAL
Webb explained his understanding of the reasoning for this
proposal, from Anne Fanton Sara explained that the
alternative would be a penalizing system for those that
did poorly Anne has been directed by the Advisory
Board to set standards for funding Fred raised that
the basic grant is less than in 79 ' because we are now
being assessed for the service, and that there has been
no increase in the ceiling since LEXPRESS began Fred
further commented that this proposal is not relevant for
those operating on high standards because inflation and
the population decreastbar a town such as Lexington from
ever qualifying He feels this is more geared to new
systems that start slowly and have room for improvement
Elaine questioned the lack of any qualification criteria
She asked if this might be added Sara will respond,
with Bob Hutchinson's approval, expressing the above
reactions

will pull up to the COA door, time permitting
Seniors leaving the new COA center needing any route
except Route 1 will catch Route 1 or 8 as they head
toward the center on the Muzzey Side of Mass Ave

Seniors leaving the COA Center needing Route 1 can
request someone from the COA to cross Mass Ave to
flag down Route 1 as it leaves the center The driver
