HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-02-04-TAC-min.pdf TAC MEETING----February 4, 1985 PRESENT Sally Castleman, Webb Sussman, Elaine Dratch, Don Graham, Bill Mix, Lili Silvera, Joyce Halls, Fred Rosenberg, Sara Arnold, Bea Phear I Gray Line A Current Service Sara reported on the current service problems--handing out a summary of the reports received from the commuters -the concensus was that there has been some improvement -Sally reported that Hudson is not interested in taking over the commuter line and Fiore has not shown any interest -BieVsh Hill is interested John McDounough has met with Sara and is attending at 8 30 He has not been approached with the idea of taking over before the current contract ends B The Contract -Sally began a review of the current contract in preparation of going out to bid -Several suggestions were made for improvement C John McDonough of 4rsh Hill arrived at 8 20 He explained the following -There are 4 companiesR9wned by the Anzoni Bros Plymouth and Brockton, (p/b/) Bursh Hill, McGinn and North Shore -Their equipment is as follows P/B; 75 coaches ; Brush Hi11Y40 coaches McGinn: 22 coachesgn4- a few school buses, North shore: over 80 school buses -The buses range from 1963 's to 1983 's They have Transits, Suburbans , Motor coaches , and Prevosts -Currently Brush Hill runs commuter seevice from Milford to Boston and Milton to Boston -Milton service uses Suburbans and Transits Milford service is always coaches -If they provided the Lexington service they would use the equipment required in the contract -Current Fares Milton to Boston $20 00 for 10 rides Rockland to Boston$3 00 one way -Current equipment does hot have two way radios -They have the next bus cover each run if there is a problem; there are extra buses at the point of departure -Buses are repaired at S Station -Reference--Jack McCabe at D P U D Committee Analysis -Brush Hill sounds interested in bidding for August 1 -Brush Hill could conceivablqy start on short notice if we don't require anything he doesn't now have -Potential problems--No garage or parking me near by --Radios will increase our price --Questionable back up plan -Wants a minimutridership; under which he can drop a run i -Town Dump for parking buses ? II MARKETING A Discussion of 12 month pass and the problems of collecting the money Fred suggested a Revolving Fudd to facilitate this A home rule petition would be necessary B Discovery in Lexington -Should get permission to have 10* rides -write chamber requesting to be included as mush as possible C Parade -Theme ---Liberty Lights the Way -Need an idea that ties Lexpress to the theme III Lexpress Report A--Sara reported that early morning downtime has been extremely high Bob Hutchinson has been informed B--Committee wants to meet_ with Bill Covalucci--Feb 12 noon or evening a � IV New COA Center and Prom Nights A--The Human Service Committee would like to know if there can be additional service to Muiey after the COA center opens--Sally and Bill will meet with the committee on Feb 11 B Sara recommended that Routes 8 and 1 go into Muzzey request; Routes 8 and 1 go by Muzzey on the right side as they return to the center C Sara said there are other possible services but she is reluctant to recommend them, 51A-ds- ?-5 ° -all routes include Muzzey at the end of their runs , by request -Routes 1 and 8 automatically go into Muzzey at the beginning of their runs -Routes 1 and 8 automatically go into Muzzey at the end of their runs D Some people are concerned about Prom Night and wonder if there is any wa5 Lexpress could be used to transport students -There are problems because this need is greatest after the prom--and then the students are all over town at different parties - Sally recommended having students first express their needs it V Alewife Report A--Final copy of Cambridge Systematics report has been received B--Recommendations are as expected C Sally will write a report to the Selectman supporting the recommendations VI MEETING ADJOURNED � 1
