HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-10-17-TAC-min.pdf Trans oration Advisory Committee Meeting---October 17, 1984 PRESENT Jack Eddison, Joyce Hals, Sara Arnold, Sally Castleman, Webb Sussman, Don Graham, Bill Mix, Lan, Newman, Bob Marciello, 24 Gray Line Commuters 1 TIME 8 00 p.m - 9;15 pm approximately Gray Line commuters expressed their views on the current service 1 One good driver--Ruth 2 Frequently buses cannot be shifted into upper gears 3 Doubledeckers are inadequate--they are slow, taking 55 minutes to one hour; one of them is missing a front window 4 Most problems are in the evening 5 20 & 5 35 5 No radios in the buses 6 Bus number 6507 has had repeated probleIiir including swaying 7 The 6p m at Saltonstall frequently doesn't come Could Hudson come at 6 10? 8 The airport shuttles aren't big enough 9 Drivers ' attitudes are often poor--angry 10 Gray Line doesn't seem to care 11 For the last 3 weeks the 5 15 has been a double decker 12 The buses should be inspected TIME 9 15 .10 30 p m approximately Bob Marciello of Gray Line met with the TAC Bob Marceiello made the following points 1 Ridership is static--contrary to the geneal view that it has dropped 2 Hudson has taken some revenue fl0m Gray Line 3 Hudson's vehicles predate 1965 4 Gray Line is interested in providing the service after July, 1985 5 Gray Line has 5 vehicles assigned to Lexington--3 1981 's and two 1965 's by January 6 Radios will be in the 1981 's by Oct 29th Radios in Mini buses by Oct 29 7 All buses passed D P U. inspection Sept 11, 1984 8 The 1965 's need new rods on their gears They can be shifted now, but some dirvers have difficulty doing so The new rods will be on by January 1 9 Gray Line's labor contract expired last December;Gray Line avoided a strike Drivers are trained before they are sent out 10 Gray Line has airport shuttle, 29 passenger vehicles that they would like to use After discussion with the TAC , the following was agreed to 1 On Thurs Oct 18 Gnay Line will submit to Sara Arnold a proposal using three 29 passenger vehicles instead of the two 1965 full size coaches 2 Gray line could institute changes on Oct 29th,'(hey would be on an experimental basis so that changes could take place, if necessary 3 The TAC will meet on Monday, October 22 to go over the changes 4 Gray Line will draft a letter to go to the commuters This will be sent to Sara Arnold on October 18 It will be distributed to commuters starting Oct 23 or 24 It will work on improving PR with the commuters and telling them of impending changes 5 The TAC will send a letter to the Minuteman about the changes 1 1
