Transportation Advisory Committee Minutes
September 6, 1984

1 MBTA
-Discussion of recommendations by Cambridge Systematics to the MBTA
for routes after the Alewife opening
-Recommendations reviewed by Sara-Arnold
Route 62 will continue from Bedford to Arlington Heights and will
continue to Alewife via Park Ave Frequercy.peak-every half hour,
non-peak-once per hour, Saturdays-once per hour
Route 76 will travel from Hanscom to Alewife and not continue to
Harvard Square Hartwell Ave Will be covered outbound at peak
morning hours and inbound at peak afternoon hours Frequency
peak--once every half hour, non-peak-every hour, Saturday-every hour
Route 61 No change
Route 67 Eliminate Lexington portion
New service Evenings from Alewife, run three trips, combinoing
Routes 62 and 76
Commuter service from Alewife to Waltham Industrial
area via Hayden Ave and Spring St --to be phased in after opeOng
of park and ride area in Waltham
-Costs Barry Faulkner reviewed the potential financial impact of the
above recommendations, giving this information to Sara on the phone
There are several plusses and minuses so that the assesment would
remain stable for the first few years After the addition of the
commuter service tojWaltham the Towns's assesment would increase
roughly $9000
-Conclusion We need a copy of the final report before a recommendation
can be made to the Selectmen We need to know more about costs to the
Town A preliminary report will be sent to the Selectmen!
2 The Gray Line
-Sara reported that the complaints have been steady recently This
year is the third of a three year contract with Gray Line We need to
evaluate the service and decide whether to go out to bid
-We will have a meeting--inviting Gray Line and the commuters to begin
dialogue Tentatively scheduled for October 10, 8 p.m Must clear
with Bob Hutchinson, Jack Eddison and Gray Line

-Webb will look into the timing required to transfer location of a
FCC liscense since Gray Line has not had radios since last December
-Chuck will write up a flyer that we will put into car windshields
s. On. Worthen Rd , advertising the meeting
3 LEXPRESS Marketing
-Chuck has the 8 tickets for 42nd Street for the Oct 13 drawing We need
to write an article in the Minuteman about it Chuck will get some flyers
to put in the buses to advertise it
-Sara will distribute information to the school newsjetters about how
LEXPRESS can be used to and from school,
-We need an idea for December marketing
-Should anything be done at the Diamond picnic?
-A flyer will be handed out at Hayden during sign-ups Volunteers needed
Fred, Webb and Sally will help
4 Mystic Valley
-Sara reported that Mystec Valley had requested that the 6 girls in an
adolescent home be allowed to purchase LEXPRESS passes at the family rate
-After discussion it was decided to recommend to Bob Hutchinson that this
be allowed on an experimental basis
