HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-03-14-TAC-min.pdf TAC Meeting Minutes March 14, 1984 Present Sally Castleman, Elaine Dratch, Webb Sussman, Chuck Stevens, Bill Mix, Sara Arnold. 1 Marketing - Chuck reviewed the material that has been used in the past to market LEXPRESS - Chuck suggested a quarterly promotion; a reward for riding, prizes from center merchants plus a grand prize - Mechanics were discussed It is a burden to ask drivers to hand out anything We coulduse pass numbers or ticket numbers, or a drop-in box on each bus - Other marketing efforts have been sporadic - We should have a bus in the Patriots Day Parade - perhaps seniors singing on it. 2 Passenger Count - Completed today, on Routes 3 & 8, despite weather - Weather throes off the ridership So it can't be used for a comparison - It was noticed that passengers paid fares and showed passes voluntarily - It would appear that ridership is down - we should have made $5,100 in February and we made only $4,600 3 Procedures for LEXPRESS - Spare bus is being parked in the Meriam Street lot Elaine felt this was inappropriate because it takes up a spot Sara will ask Wally about alter- natives Having a bus read ly available is a major asset to the service - Sally questioned how we improve procedures when there are problems What are the steps that should be taken There were no immediate suggested solutions - Sara raised the question of how much Transcomm should be penalized for not meeting the bus specs Differences of opinion were expressed;ultimately Bob Hutchinson will make the decision - Sara will request maintenance reports from Transcomm 4 Commuter Bus Parking - Bill suggested three locations 1 Lincoln St field - on the left where gravel can be poured 2 State owned land near Hastings school 3 Worthen Rd next to Hayden Field - Other discussion involved dispersing of cars on Worthen Rd , creating two stops, and the parking area near the Res on Marrett Rd - It was decided to send a memo to the Board of Selectmen, stressing that a solution needs to be found The committee will mention all the spots raised at this meeting without addressing their pros and cons- then ask for guidance as to how to proceed The committee will express their willingness to help explore the possibilities
