2 Budget
A Budget as presented by Sara to Town Manager was discussed
1 Elaine Dratch presented the current situation with the
chair car service and the changes that will take place
1 in FY 86 Currently Lexington purchases tithe Thurs 9-3
1 (roughly)
- 9-10 and 2-3 are used by Faailelderly day care program
-Frail elderly program purchases 9-10 and 2-3 on Mondays
-Share-A-Ride is absorbing the cost of a second
vehicle both Monday and Thursday for frail elderly program
FY 86 -Share-A-ride will be unable to absorb the second vehicle
- if frail elderly program uses more of its grant money
for transportation it will have less money to
prolong the program
Discussion points
-Frail elderly program takes vehicle availability away from other
handicapped people
-demand by other handicapped people is not heavy, but could
increase if more time were available
2 Larry Chait questioned the decrease in anticpated
fares for FY 86 Sara explained that the school
age population drop is currently at its height at
the junior high level, and this adversely affects
ridership This is a conservative estimate
B Budget was approved as presented
II LEXPRESS
A Sara reported on excessive downtime, especially in the
mornings She also reported on the steps being taken by
Transcomm to make improvements new starters , new
batteries, two new tramsmissions, a new supervisor
B Sara also reported that back-up vehicles have not been
available The fifth bus is always being repaired and
station wagons have mostly been unavailable
C The commuter is concerned and will meet with Bill Covalucci
if there is not immediate improvement Sara is to ask Bill
about parking the buses in Boston during the winter if they
would be inside a heated garage This is contrary to the
contract regulations , but perhaps it shothd be tried The
station wagons must have signs

B Sara reported that First Parish Church would like to lease
30-140 parking spaces to the town Wally Tonazack has suggested
