April 6, 1983
Present Sally Castleman, Elaine Dratch, Bill Mix, Joyce Hals, Webb Sussman,
Sara Arnold
1 Recommendation for contractor who will be providing the service effective
July 1 , 1983
- There is no hard data to indicate any reasons for not recommending
Transcomm
- Sara reported that Bill Covalucci said he traditionally pays 15C more
for driver salaries than others in the industry Other than that, he
would not give a firm salary figure Joyce expressed serious concern
over his change from quoting $5 50 to $7 00 for salaries at the meeting
with Transcomm Considerable discussion followed It was expressed that
Sara should call Transcomm again about salaries Consideration was given to
recommending Gray Line, knowing that the increase in cost might result in
the elimination of Saturday service It was pointed out that a call to
Transcomm would not change the concerns raised by these events
- The Committee voted to recommend Transcomm to the Selectmen on Monday,
April 11 This recommendation was made with the understanding that
Transcomm will be watched carefully to insure that they comply with the
contract
2 Fare increase
- The budget presentation to the Selectmen must include a projected fare
revenue
- Questions raised - Should we institute a fare increase when we see a
ridership decline? If we do raise fares, do we base our projections
on this year' s ridership or on last years, or on a decrease of this years?
- Due to time constraints it was decided to postpone this discussion
