HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-10-14-TAC-min.pdf Transportation Advisory Committee Minutes October 14, 1982 Present Sally Castleman, Bea Phear, Joyce Hals, Bill Mix, Lance Neumann, Don Graham 1 T I C Representative Don Graham agreed to serve Next meeting November 2nd at 12 30 in the Visitor's Center 2 Town Report Pictyre The Commis_ will be photographed at the next meeting 3 Town Report Report This year it should include discussion of commuter bus and chair car in addition to Lexpress Sally and Sara will write it 4 Safety Lessons/Lexpress Sally reported on her safety talks to the 3rd through 6th grades at five schools She left posters She has two schools to go 5 Chair Car Bea reported that 37 people have registered, 11 of which are in wheel chairs During July 9 clients made 28 trips Six of these were social trips, most were medical The Chair Car is available from 9 to 2 on Thursdays and it is not being fully utilized Bea reported that there is some criticism that this is is too inflexible an availability to meet some client's needs Ways to encourage more registrants and more use were discussed, e g , another press release and getting doctors to promote the service 6 Commuter Bus Issues Gray Line wants to change the schedule and to eliminate monthly passes and residents of the apartments on Worthen Road are complaining that the bus double parking is blocking their access After considerable discussion it was agreed that Bea would invite a Gray Line representative to the next meeting The committee is receptive to consdering changes but needs to understand better the need for and specific nature of the changes proposed •rz Committee members will observe conditions on Worthen Road while the bus is loading before acting on the double parking complaint 7 and 8 Lease/Purchase Report and Budget Drafts of the report prepared to date by Lance, Sara and Bill were reviewed Sally will consolidate these and prepare the next draft There was considerable discussion of the options to be described and included The option which promises the best service (all new vehicles) is also the most expensive - more expensive than the Selectmen would probably buy In view of this, Jim Crain will be invited to the next meeting and his advice sought on the best strategy to follow in presenting the budget 9 Other Business None 10 Next Meeting November 2, 1982
