August 17, 1982
Present Sally Castleman, Joyce Hals, Lance Neumann, Donald Graham,
Sara Arnold and 'Bill Mix
1 Gray Lines Schedule
The proposed fall schedule was discussed, with special emphasis on the
"load and go" concept suggested by Gray Lines for the evening runs at
4 45, 5 00 and 5 15 from Government Center The committee agreed that
this should eliminate the standee problem on those runs for passengers
boarding at Government Center, but those boarding at Haymarket would be
standees Joyce Hals commented that she would like to see one loading
point in this area rather than the two presently being utilized
It was agreed that the "load and go" proposal should be tried on an
experimental basis, and be reviewed in November prior to establishing a
winter schedule The following restrictions were placed on the three
"load and go" runs
Run No 3 scheduled departure at 4 45 would not leave
prior to 4 40 or after 4 55
Run No 4 scheduled departure at 5 00 would not leave
prior to 4 55 or after 5 10
Run No 5 scheduled departure at 5 15 would not leave
prior to 5 15 or after 5 25
These runs are to stop at Haymarket , and boarding passengers will have to
ride as standees if seats are not available The schedule to be posted
by Gray Line is to note this information
Reviewing the proposed morning runs , the only changes were those of runs
No 4 and No 5 Run No 4 should make the Mass Ave stops leaving
Pleasant Street at approximately 7 30 The No 5 run would originate at
Worthen Road at 7 45
Scheduling of Bedford stops were left to the discretion of Gray Lines
provided Lexington riders will not he inconvenienced The Gray Line
request to sell books of 22 rides for $44 00 in lieu of 20 rides for
$40 00 was approved
2 Map Ads
Sally Castleman reported that there are three potential advertisers and
that two spaces remain open The Share-A-Ride ad will be printed in
space not requested by an advertiser All copy approvals are to be
returned to the printer no later than 8/27 Distribution of the maps
will be made not later than the week of 9/20
3 Contingency Plans for TMC
Whereas the TAC has a vital interest in the status of the Mass Ave
garage leased by TMC, Sara Arnold agreed to check on the progress of
its sale and the resultant homelessness of the Lexpress vehicles Copies
of the current contract between TMC and the Town will be sent to each
committee member No other plans were made regarding any possible
interuption in Lexpress service
4 Hudson Bus Lines
Sally Castleman briefed the committee on the status of the proposed Logan
Airport bus service Hudson seeks to offer No action is required by the
committee Final approval for the start of service lies with the MBTA
A hearing was held 8/13 'and Hudson expects to be advised in about a month
Service to Logan, with an intermediate stop at Haymarket Square, not
conflicting with Gray Lines schedules , would run hourly to Logan between
5 30 A M and 9 30 P.M Return service would run between 7 00 A M to
11 00 P M Fares are $5 00 to Logan and $3 00 to Haymarket A 30
passenger bus will operate from Bedford, serving Lexington and Arlington
