Minutes - June 22, 1982
Present. Sally Castleman, Sara Arnold, Bill Mix, Joyce Hals, Fred Rosenberg,

1 Minutes approved as amended
2 Share-a-Ride Bea gave update Publicity through write-ups in Minuteman,
COA, handicapped organization - 11 requests for applications, 8
returned, 2 young, others very old First trip Thursday July 1 to
COA congregate meal program Contract to be signed with MMHC for
$5,000 MMHC to provide Lexington with statistics such as number of
riders, trip types Discussion of eligibility and scheduling
3 Route Changes - error in Minuteman article - date said July 22 Discussed
routing down Eldred, but for traffic congestion, vehicle capacity,
Winter Street during snow Conclusion not to make the Eldred loop
Good ridership on Winter/Skyview, low ridership on Marrett/Middle/
Lincoln triangle Routes now pushed to maximum Tentative recommendation
that routes 4 and 6 be kept as at present, and so marked on maps Letter
to go to Minuteman to make correction
Countryside elderly units to be served when opened
4 Lease/Purchase Analysis - Bill companies will lease or sell, no specific
response from dealers, orally approximately $25,000
Chris submitted written update of lease breakdown from E F Hutton
and Coreys - committee requested further information on unscheduled
maintenance, insurance, administration, profit overhead
Joyce supplied Massport bid to operate buses under contract (buses
owned by Massport)
Avis - used buses normally scrapped
National - small market for used vehicles, ie small re-sale value
Transportation Advisory Committee asked Joyce to find out how many
miles on used buses, what their conditions Maybe we should buy their
used vehicles, hold for one year, then throw away
5 Express Bus - discussion of Chris' memo accepted as modified concerning
start and stop times
Indications are that an unknown number of buses will be made available
from the State for Hub' s service
Hub still has standees ---
6 Lexpress - Budget surplus projected to be $1,891 (after $19,000 transfer to
FY 83)
Selectmen's meeting on Monday, July 12 to discuss telephone poles at
Depot Attendance should be encouraged for this meeting
Summer schedule/ad - a 1/4 page ad to be printed if it can be prepared
in two weeks - to include Minuteman, High School, pool, Hayden, no
special service to Res, no Saturday service July and August
Maps - changes include change in possible prices, added Skyview
triangle with symbol on bottom legend
Passes - 10 new ones sold, mainly to elders
In Bus Ads - sold 2-9 months 1-6 months 2-3 months
Sally to follow up with Chuck Stevens for wider ad circulation
DSA not to solicit, Sara to call old advertisers
TAC discussed issue of free ads by service-oriented agencies
Next meeting - date undecided
