Meeting Minutes for Wednesday,June 26,2024

LHRC MEMBERS PRESENT

1.Welcome/Call to order
a.This is LB’s last meeting as a committee member,as she is moving.
b.Meeting called to order at 9:08am
c.Quorum met with 7 members present
2.Minutes Approval
a.Minutes approved unanimously for 6/10/24 and 4/10/24
3.Finalize charge -see attached proposed updates
a.MS would like quorum language moved further up to align with other committee
charges
b.Should we clarify that Liaisons are non-voting members?
c.MS will consult with Select Board on funding language
d.Next steps:MS will bring to Select Board for final review and bring back
recommendations for committee to finalize and submit for approval
4.Set meeting times for next season
a.Plan to meet twice per month starting in September,with the first meeting
running 90 minutes and second meeting on an as needed basis.
b.CL would like to meet in person more often (meetings would be hybrid).In
person meetings will be either at the Community Center or the Police Station.
c.Next meeting is 9/4 at 9am.
5.Upcoming events:
a.Quock Walker hike at Bowman on July 6th
i.SH will be there
b.Lex250 -Calendar photo for LHRC is Dec 10th
i.International Human Rights Day
ii.9:45 AM
c.July is Minority Mental Health month.DB reports that the town wants to make a
proclamation.Does LHRC want to cosponsor the proclamation and/or help
create it?
i.Possibly yes,upon review of the proclamation.
ii.DB will send toolkit for members to review

d.LUAA is having an active bystander training on 7/10 from 6-9pm on zoom
6.Unexpected Items Not Reasonably Anticipated in Advance
a.Town is doing an internal equity audit.One change that town is making is to
review gender binary as default in addressing people,and CL suggests that we
may want to do the same by asking people what their preferred form of address
is.
i.DB reports that the town is having a pronoun expert address town staff,
and has offered to refer that expert to LHRC as well.
