RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
December 9, 1998
Members Present: Sandra Shaw, Pam Varrin, Don Chisholm, Rick DeAngelis,
Dick Neumeier

AGENDA.
This was a special meeting to discuss field needs and issues, giving particular thought to the idea
of putting some of the repairs and updates on the School capital projects at Clarke, Diamond, and
the High School.
The field situation at Clarke was discussed. Brian asked what work the Committee wanted done
at this site. Dick asked for cost estimates on rebuilding and raising the grade of the fields and
then adding drainage and irrigation.
At Diamond Ben Lawhorn of Lawhorn Irrigation has given an estimate of$10,000 to install
irrigation on the full size soccer field. To rebuild the field would cost $15,000 and to rebuild the
entire area would be $50,000 In addition the backstop at Diamond needs to be replaced as well
as new poles and fencing installed. The field needs to be turned over and seeded and irrigation
added, estimated to cost $17,000 It would also be recommended to skin the baseball field,
rebuild a sod the infield and add irrigation on all the Diamond fields.
Dick Neumeier will prepare a report to the Selectmen recommending attaching some of these
needs to the School capital projects.
