Meeting Minutes
25 October 2006
Room 111, Town Office Building
Members Present: Betsey Weiss, Chair; Joel Adler, Norman Cohen, Marilyn
Fenollosa, Wendy Manz, Leo McSweeney, Richard Pagett, Sandra Shaw,
Richard Wolk
Others: Robert DeSimone, Rachel Dorr, and Peter Noonan representing
Supportive Living, Inc. (SLI); Mary Keady, and Wendell Ing.
Betsey Weiss called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM and introductions were
made of the visiting board members from SLI and the members of the CPC. SLI
board members had been invited to tonight’s meeting for an informal discussion
of the Douglas House project proposal; to facilitate the discussion they had been
given a copy of our questions in advance. SLI had prepared written responses to
our questions in the form of a supplement to their original application and these,
along with a revised development pro forma summary, were handed out.
Ms. Dorr gave a brief presentation about SLI that focused on its background,
goals, mode of operation, and how it came to develop the Lexington project. She
mentioned that there have been a number of changes in how they plan to
proceed from their original submission to the CPC and walked us through these.
A lengthy discussion followed that broadened our understanding of the project
and elements of it that had concerned different members of the CPC. At the end
of the discussion it was suggested that the original application would best be
revised to both address the issues the CPC had raised and to incorporate the
proposed changes SLI itself was making. Ms. Dorr agreed they would have a
revised application to the CPC by 1 November.
The meeting then adjourned after scheduling our next meeting for 8 November at
5:00 PM. At that time we will begin reviewing the applications for CPA funding
for the spring Town Meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Richard Pagett
