CPC June 21 Minutes (2006)- Selectmen’s Meeting Room
Attending:
Leo McSweeney, Norm Cohen, Betsey Weiss, Dick Wolk, Richard Pagett,
Sandy Shaw, and Wendy Manz
Absent:
Marilyn Fenollosa
1. Meeting came to order at 5:10pm.
2. Betsey Weiss reported that she had met with Candy McLaughlin and Candy was
going to make the committee’s recommendations to the CPC web site.( The
changes have been made.) If there are any more recommendations, please let
Betsey know.
3. Betsey reported that the Colonial Times had printed the CPC Update in the June
C.T.’s issue. She had also met with Bethan Jones and Bethan was going to write
an article asking for CPC project applications in the Minuteman.
4. Committee members then reviewed various towns’ CPC Needs Assessment Plans
to use as a model for Lexington’s CPC Plan. The following plans were discussed:
Weston (16pages), Sudbury (11pages), Needham (24 pages), Wellesley (31
pages), and Newton (41pages). The majority of the committee liked the shorter
versions. Carl Valente, who had been asked earlier, said he preferred the
Wellesley version.
5. The committee informally decided to follow the Wellesley version
http://www.wellesley.ma.gov. However, since some of the committee members
liked shorter versions, it was decided that each person would decide on the length
of his/her section.
6. The sections were divided as follows: Index- Richard P., Overview- Joel, Historic
Preservation- Marilyn, Affordable Housing- Norm and Leo, Open Space- Dick
Wolk, Recreation- Sandy, Appendix I- Application for Funding- Richard P.,
Appendix II- Plans, Documents, and Studies- Wendy, Appendix III- Glossary-
Richard P., Appendix IV- list of committee members.
7. Two questions came up during the meeting whether the sound system in Cary
Hall and the Lexington Flick, a private business, were CPA eligible projects?
Both need to be checked on.

8. It was decided to have a first draft deadline of each section on July 26 and the

next meeting Wed. Aug. 9 at 5:00pm.
9. A motion and a second to adjourn at 6:20pm.
