Discussion First Draft of Proposed Report
a. Marian commented that the draft was a good first start. Do we want to start with the questions
highlighted in yellow?
Margaret asked if the school civics section was an appendix? Yes
Fernando commented that since local voting is being posed as a problem, what would an
improvement be? Higher turnout? Engaged citizenry? More informed voting? Voting in behalf of a
special interest(e.g. gas leaf blower ban)?
Marian asked if we have a target to measure success.
Fernando asked if we need a section on disinformation. Is it happening? At least make a reference to
it. Could it be connected to low voter turnout? What happens if disinformation is attached to the
upcoming new high school project? Should the town clerk take a more active role in voting
information?
Fernando left meeting at 10:30 AM.
Should we explore the demographics of who votes? Age, gender. Only if possible.
Eileen will look into Vote Builder. Joe Pato may be source of information.
If data is available, Marian will work with it.
Margaret and Eileen will work on the highlighted section on voter reforms.
