HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-09-14-YC-min.revTown of Lexington Lexington Youth Commission Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, September 141^, 2017 Members Present: Will Thomas, Jack Mitchell, Lucas DiCerbo, Anthony Marbardy, Deb Hankins, Sean Maloney, Shannon De Guglielmo, Joe Hankins, Avery Gehring, Annie Reilly, Jimmy Lane, Meghan Buschini, Venuri DeSilva, Ganga Nair, Nicholas Newton -Chen, Emma Donigan, Courtney Campbell, Ishaan Khurana, Patrick Kridarahkorn, Nachiyappan Solaiyappan, Rachel Harvey, Bess Lawrence, Millie Landis, Maria Schapfel, Cate Swan, Michael Swift, Zoe Toulmin, Erin Cesmeli, Katherine Gehring, Charles Marbardy, Annika Richter, Myles Cutler, Katie Devine, Mehr Khurana, and Rebecca Wilkinson. Members Absent: Kristina Hankins, Karen Duperey, Courtney Walsh, and Hadar Boker. 1. Everyone introduced themselves to the Commission and CORI forms were collected. We discussed the purpose and goals of LYC as well as the importance of showing up to meetings and events. We also talked about the importance of communication and how members should contact their team leader, Lucas DiCerbo or Anthony Marbardy, if they cannot attend a meeting or event. 2. Candy Bags and envelopes were distributed for the Food Pantry fundraiser. There are 30 pieces of candy to be sold for $1 each by the next meeting (October 12th), so that we can make the donation in time for the holidays. 3. We took sweatshirt sizes as well as discussed t -shirt designs for the annual LYC t -shirts. Members were asked to bring t -shirt design ideas to the next meeting, we will present the ideas and vote on a final design. The cost for the sweatshirt is $30.00. 4. Our first event will be the LYC island fall planting and cleanup on Wednesday October 4th at 5:15pm. The island is located between the football field and the playground, K Shannon will bring pizza and drinks. We expect to see everyone who did not already say that they were unavailable (Nicholas Newton -Chen, Rachel Harvey, Millie Landis, and Michael Swift), however if your availability has changed please contact your team leader. 5. Our second event will be hanging balloons for the center trick or treating on Tuesday October 31st at 11:16am, we will meet in the quad (after G block) and walk to the center to hang the balloons then eat lunch at Brookline Bank. 6. We briefly discussed the upcoming events for November and December, we hope to raise a few thousand dollars in holiday fundraising for children in need in Lexington. 7. We discussed that we are still missing an event for January, all ideas are welcome so please bring any to the next meeting. 8.
