Present: Emily Silberbrg, Co-Chair Lorraine Buonomo; Christine Chase; Pat Kane; Martin Quinlan; Rick Safford. Next meeting: Wednesday, January 15 at 3 p m. CARI LUTERMAN She would be pleased to have a meeting at her home TITLE II - MUNICIPAL, COUNTY AND STATE FACILITIES Cary Library Pat Kane will ask Carol Mahoney if the library can have same non-discriminatory policy relating to people with disabilities as the Council on Aging is adopting. Curb cuts Corner Bedford St. & Worthen Rd. - remodeled satisfactorily Handicap Parking 1 Handicap spaces at Edison Way, also Bay Bank/Cambridgeport Bank: reviewed by Bigelow Moore at the suggestion of George Woodbury and then discussed with Emily Silberberg. Emily had written a memo to George Woodbury regarding the inadequate number of handicap spaces in relation to what the law requires, also referred to spaces that were not close enough to buildings. The need was seen to add one handicap space at Edison Way or one at the rear end near Depot Square at the corner near Warm Hearts and Cold Noses. 2. Bigelow Moore - to be invited by Steve to the next meeting of the Committee Hearing accessibility - Selectmen's Meeting Room - Rick Safford update Caleb Warner who has been planning to do testing will be asked by Steve if he could carry this out with the assistance of the Committee prior to their next meeting. School Department Pat Kane will follow up with Renee Cochin to advise her that School Department considers all systems to be adequate. If Mrs. Cochin so desires, she will arrange a meeting with a School Department representative to consider any inadequacies instanced by her Enablement Committee Update 12/17/96 Page 2 ( Transitional plan - Town, Schools - Emily Silberberg Emily Silberberg will schedule a meeting with Peter Chalpin and George Woodbury TTY Steve Baran will inquire of Jim McLaughlin and Nancy Freed re progress being made toward purchase of a TTY TITLE III - PLACE OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION Wilson Farm Pat Kane will talk with Scott Wilson about carts to make shopping easier for people with handicaps. Lexington Arts & Crafts Society The Society has made considerable progress. Christine Chase will check. Automobile Repair and Service Stations (__ Emily Silberberg will talk with Roy Sanderson, Health Department Director re putting up signs in service stations stating that assistance dogs are allowed inside Breugger's Bagel Bakery Must all public parking be in accordance with regulations regardless of when they were installed? There are no handicap spaces in violation of ADA regulations. Absentee owner Rick Safford will inquire of Myra Berloff at Mass. Office on Disability for her opinion. Postal boxes Steve Baran will contact Steve McCarthy, Manager Customer Services, to inquire about status of work done to make some postal boxes accessible to handicapped users. Pilgrim Church Th9y have withdrawn their application for a variance. ke cMass.
