ADA TITLE I-EMPLOYMENT ISSUES
None at this time.
ADA TITLE II MUNICIPAL. COUNTY AND STATE FACILITIES
Curb cuts
Priority #1
Edison Way north side too steep- 1 at base -rip out and start over.
25 Depot Sq. existing curb cut too steep. Parking space blocks curb cut. Move parking sign.
Priority#2
Depot Square south side end at parking lot too steep.
Hayden Recreation- four curb cuts needed along sidewalk.

Hayden Rink curb cut needed at Worthen Road and Lincoln Street
Priority #3
177 Bedford St. curb cut needed to match the one on the opposite side of the street.
Priority #4
The above curb cuts listed are in busy areas. In other areas, there are cross walks with no
corresponding curb cuts. A phased plan is suggested for such situations.
At reception for Donna Hooper in August, George Woodbury said that he would give attention to these
priorities.
Hearing accessibility Selectmen's Meeting Room
Rick Safford updating information before Steve forwards his request to Linda Crew Vine, Assistant
Town Manager. He will discuss cordless options with Phyllis Smith, Secretary to the Board of
Selectmen.
Hearing accessibility school system
Pat Kane to investigate school buildings' hearing accessibility and report back to the Committee

Hearing accessibility TTY
See attached memo to Jim McLaughlin who suggested getting backing and possible funding support
from Chamber of Commerce before forwarding to Linda Vine. He would like to coordinate this request
to general revamping of phone system being undertaken by the Town.

On 7/9 at last meeting of the Enablememt Committee, Martin Quinlan said that he had directed these
concerns to Brian Gilbert, DPW Director of Parks and Trees. Steve Baran to follow up from Town's
end while Bob and Emily make site visit. They had visited the Center playground and found it to be
accessible.
Title II Transition Plan
Title II Transition Plan: See final report from Emily Silberberg. George Woodbury suggests that 'the
next step is to take the total list of requirements and prioritize them. Emily Silberberg and Bob Harris
to meet with Peter Chalpin. George Woodbury to be invited to October meeting looking forward to
getting certain items into November warrant.
Lexington Public Schools: Emily Silberberg will contact Tony Capezza who worked on a transition plan
with Enablement Committee members in 1991.
Munroe Center for the Arts. 1403 Mass. Ave. Emily Silberberg, Bob Harris, Martin Quinlan and
Steve Baran of the Enablement Committee met with Melinda Vinton, Executive Director; Bob
Anderson, Chairman of the Board and Bob Adams, Architect on 6/20/96. Their plan is to make
building totally accessible following capital campaign raising $500,000. Munroe Center included in
Title II Transition Plan final report.
Mail box accessibility The Post Office Customer Service Committee and Dr. Ted Anderson met on
6/12/96 at the Museum of our National Heritage with Bob Harris and Steve Baran to discuss citing of
mail boxes so as to make them accessible. The Post Office Committee will report back in the fall.
Following are sites under discussion: Mass. Ave. and Harrington (island); Worthen Rd at Militia Dr.
(island); Countryside island in shopping complex; Muzzey high.
ADA TITLE IH PLACE OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION
Wilson Farm, 10 Pleasant St.
Scott Wilson, owner, has written to Emily Silberberg about architectural barriers issues. See attached.
Date of building permit: 11/17/95 for foundation; 1/4/96 for building. Wilson Farm construction is
bound by old AAB regs since permit was taken out prior to 2/23/96. Bob Harris will check with Steve
Frederickson re office space for employees.

Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, 130 Waltham St.
Jerald Maddox told Steve Baran in August that planning was finalized, wanted to review outside van
parking signage with Bob Harris. Planned expenditures are as follows: front ramp, $5,000; lift between
painters' studio and front gallery $14,000; two bathrooms next to painters' studio, $5,000.
King's Mobil, 396 Waltham St.
Signage needs to be changed prohibiting animals inside the station to making an exception for guide
dogs. Health Department Inspector, John Garside, agreed to make new signs. Emily Silberberg will
follow up in the fall.
Bruegger's Bagel Bakery, 413 Waltham St.
Emily's report: no handicapped parking. The building predates state regs, was erected during the 60s
and never changed hands. No enforcement capability nor sufficient renovations to require compliance.
Steve Frederickson will double check the latter and call Emily Silberberg about this.
Grey Nuns Provincial House, 10 Pelham Rd.
To be renovated into an assisted living facility zoning variances being sought; opportunity for Senior
Center space; involvement of Enablement Committee. Steve Baran will invite Steve Frederickson to
September meeting.
k— Locke Village Walkway, 661 Lowell St.
Rick Safford reported that accessible walkways had been constructed.
Stone Meadow Golf, 675 Waltham St.
No paved surface for parking; handicapped parking signs now located next to ramp entering club
house; gravel surface creates problem in designating width of handicapped parking. Steve Frederickson
will assure this gets done.
OTHER
Pamphlet describing handicap establishments
This would be a good Senior Volunteer Corps project.
Training for Community Access Monitoring
Scheduled for Wednesday October 9 at First Baptist Church from 9 to 4. Linda Vine has expedited
finding parking places. Send letter to editor prepared by Mass. Office on Disability invite Chamber of
Commerce members.
Budget for ADA requirements
George Woodbury recommends set percentage. To prepare for Town Meeting recommendation in
Spring of'97
