ADA TITLE H - MUNICIPAL. COUNTY AND STATE FACILITIES Curb cuts - prioritized and non-prioritized to be presented to George Woodbury following Committee meeting with him. See below and others. Meriam St. Path of travel at corner(s) of alley next to Minuteman newspaper office (9 Meriam St.) has no curb cut(s) ( Edison Way to Mario's Curb cuts between these locations are too steep and too short. 177 Bedford St. There is a curb cut on one side of the street and not one on the other 55 Bedford St. The existing curb cut is not in line with the crosswalk. Hearing accessibility - Cary Hall Marge Battin, Town Meeting Moderator, announced availability of system. Next year's Town Warrant will advise interested parties of the availability of a sign language interpreter (according to Acting Assistant Town Manager). Hearing accessibility - Selectmen's Meeting Room Rick Safford updating information before Steve forwards his request to Linda Crew Vine, Assistant Town Manager Hearing accessibility - school system Pat Kane to investigate school buildings' hearing accessibility and report back to the Committee Enablement Committee Problem-Oriented Record Updated 5/16/96 Page 2 Hearing accessibility - TTY Steve has obtained information from a number of satisfied users, will forward request for appropriation of funds to Linda Crew Vine, Assistant Town Manager Senior Center door control On hold. This was to be mainly for the convenience of Social Day Care Program. Funding has been sought from the Town to move the program to a separate building in another location. Committee believes, however, there is a continuing need for convenience of the public. Door Control, Inc. (1-800-341-2400) used by CVS is the preferred vendor if this inquiry should be resumed. Title II Transition Plan Site visits are finished. Emily Silberberg, Bob Harris and Peter Chalpin will be meeting in the coming weeks to finalize report. Cary Library Director, Carol Mahoney, and her Assistant, July Triessel, would like to meet with members of the Committee. Lexington Public Schools: Emily Silberberg will contact Tony Capezza who worked on a transition plan with Enablement Committee members in 1991. ADA TITLE III - PLACE OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION Wilson Farm, 10 Pleasant St. Scott Wilson, owner, has written to Emily Silberberg about architectural barriers issues. See attached. Date of building permit: 11/17/95 for foundation; 1/4/96 for building. Wilson Farm construction is bound by old AAB regs since permit was taken out prior to 2/23/96. Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, 130 Waltham St. Michael Martignetti will draft a letter asking for voluntary compliance. Health Department Inspector John Garside, agreed to make new signs. Bruegger's Bagel Bakery, 413 Waltham St. Emily's report: no handicapped parking. The building predates state regs, was erected during the 60s and never changed hands. No enforcement capability nor sufficient renovations to require compliance. Steve Frederickson will double check the latter and call Emily Silberberg about this. Grey Nuns Provincial House, 10 Pelham Rd. To be renovated into an assisted living facility; zoning variances being sought; opportunity for Senior Center space; involvement of Enablement Committee. Locke Village Walkway, 661 Lowell St. Rick Safford has been informed that construction will get underway Stone Meadow Golf, 675 Waltham St. No paved surface for parking; handicapped parking signs not located next to ramp entering club house; gravel surface creates problem in designating width of handicapped parking. Steve Frederickson will assure this gets done.
