None at this time.
ADA TITLE II - MUNICIPAL. COUNTY AND STATE FACILITIES
Curb cuts
1749 Mass. Ave. (Steve's Ice Cream) - Gap between ramp and street creates
channel in which wheelchairs get caught. Memo to George Woodbury,
Director of DPW 12/13/95
East Street and Ridge Rd. - Completed.
Lowell St. and Woburn St.
Jacqui Weinstock, aide to Rep. Kaufman, took action to press getting work
done through Mass. Highway but obtained no definitive result.
Meriam St.
Memo to George Woodbury, Director of DPW 12/13/95 - path of travel at
corner(s) of alley next to Minuteman newspaper office (9 Meriam St.) has no
curb cut(s)
Hearing accessibility - Cary Hall
Steve Baran will inquire about informing users of Cary Hall that assisted listening
system is available (through Candy McLaughlin to Betty Adam)
Hearing accessibility - Town Manager's office and Selectmen's Meeting Room

Hearing accessibility - school system
Emily Silberberg will get in touch with Pat Kane to remind her about her agreement
to investigate school buildings' hearing accessibility Emily will inquire if Joe Dini
answered letter from Renee Cochin.
Letter to Minuteman about ADA issues facing the Town - done. New member,
Michael Martignetti, responded to the letter by joining the Enablement Committee.
Hearing accessibility - TTY
Steve Baran has invited Jennifer Hartling of Hartling Communications, Inc. to
meeting on February 21
Senior Center door control
Steve Baran was asked by Council on Aging staff to contact bidders to ask them about
their specific experiences in Senior Centers. Alden Door (Goeff) referred him to
Neville Manor Nursing Home (349-4071 - Dave Cote or Dave Moeshado) and
Brandeis University (Doug Leir - 736-4385) where they have put in door in all of the
dormitories.
Later, Steve contacted CVS which spoke highly of the performance of their double
folding doors which had been installed by Door Control, Inc. (1-800-341-2400) Since
the Social Day Care Program may be relocated out of the Senior Center in FY '97,
action is being deferred.
Title H Transition Plan
Emily Silberberg and Bob Harris, Co-Chairs, along with Peter Chalpin, Engineering,
are inspecting Town buildings. See schedule attached. Emily Silberberg will prepare a
report.
ADA TITLE III - PLACE OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION
Bruegger's Bagel Bakery, 413 Waltham St.
Emily spoke with property owner who agreed to install handicapped parking.

Hayden Recreation Center, 24 Lincoln St.
Mary Miller of 53 Paul Revere Road, is mother of a disabled 5 year old child who
uses Hayden Recreation Center She was experiencing difficulties in bringing her
child to Hayden. Even though she had a handicapped placard, Hayden had no parking
spaces set aside as handicapped parking. Mrs. Miller and Steve Baran approached
Donald Mahoney, Director, who has proceeded to install handicapped parking for
main building and pool. Ramps have also been installed.
King's Mobil, 396 Waltham St.
Signage needs to be changed prohibiting animals inside the station to making an
exception for guide dogs. Health Department Inspector, John Garside, agreed to make
new signs.
Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, 130 Waltham St.
Steve Baran wrote to Gerald Christian, new President, at the suggestion of Christine
Chase on September 6. Mr Christian has not responded to date, but a notice has
appeared in their recent newsletter asking for interested members to form a committee
(- to address accessibility issues.
Locke Village Walkway, 661 Lowell St.
Rick Safford has been informed that construction will bet underway
Stone Meadow Golf, 675 Waltham St.
Emily and Steve visited facility and found owner's representative quite cooperative.
They discussed ramping, door handles and parking spaces. To date, they have not
changed their parking. Emily Silberberg will follow up in Spring.
Trinity Pharmacy, 166 Bedford St. and neighboring establishments
Steve Baran wrote to MacKay Nominee Trust on August 22 at the prompting of Eliot
Community Human Services. There has been no response to date. Eliot wrote on
August 25 complaining that the Town was not being helpful. Martin Quinlan
contacted staff member on 12/12 to see if they are interested in pursuing the matter

shop will be opened with handicap provisions - Robert Jones, 3 Jocelyn Drive,

Pamphlet describing handicap establishments
This would be a good volunteer project. Volunteers may be forthcoming if a letter
were put in the Minute-man or through the Senior Volunteer Corps which will be
getting underway next year
Training for Community Access Monitoring
