HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-06-21-EC-min.pdf ;NABLEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES Wednesday, June 21, 1995 at 3 00 p.m. in the Senior Center Present Robert Harris, Co-Chair; Emily Silberberg, Co--Chair; Pat Kane; Martin Quinlan; Gary Strong; Steve Baran, ADA Coordinator (recorder) Absent Christine Chase; Joanne Fray; Cari Luterman; Rick Safford 1 Senior Center door control Art Jordan of Door Control, Inc visited the Center, spoke with members of the Committee and prepared specifications to provide estimate for door controls Gary Strong volunteered to look for contractors who would provide alternative bids 2. Quilt Steve Baran announced that Linda Vine, Director of the Senior Center, volunteered to hang donated quilt 3 Minutes of May meeting The Minutes of May 17 were approved with the exception that Emily Silberberg, not Cari Luterman, should have been shown as Co-Chair 4 Cly Hall Rick Safford plans to work with Christine Chase on preparing questionnaire for testing assistive listening system at Cary Hall The Committee offered questions to be included in the questionnaire 5. Communications for Tbwn Departments Emily Silberberg and Steve Baran are preparing a memorandum to be sent to Julia Novak, Assistant Town Manager, recommending steps to be taken to provide for assistive listening in Town departments including a TTY device in the Town Manager s office A memorandum will be sent to Jeffrey Young, Superintendent of Schools, noting improvements in hearing accessibility at Estabrooke School and requesting information on structural and programmatic progress in other schools 6. Letter to Minuteman Emily Silberberg is preparing a letter to the Minuteman alluding to progress in improving accessibility influenced by the Enablement Committee Bob Harris gave examples The Police Department will be mentioned Enablement Committee Minutes, June, 1955 Page 2 7. Katandin Woods bus stop Pat Kane who is concerned that there is no Lexpress bus stop at Katandin Woods will talk with Barbara Lucas, Lexpress Coordinator 8 99 Waltham St. The primary entrance at 99 Waltham Street is not accessible to people with disabilities Steve Baran will write letter referencing ADA regs 9 Lexington Ridge Daily Silberberg mentioned that the next Architectural Access Board hearing on Lexington Ridge will take place on August 8 10 Community Monitor Training Emily Silberberg has arranged for September. 7 (Title II, Title III and AAB regs) and September 21 (survey methods) as dates for community monitor training for representatives in the region to be carried out by the Architectural Access Board The Committee discussed possible sites
