ADA Transition Plan
Nicole Scaramelli, summer intern, has made recommendations for completing transition plan. Her
report will be distributed.
35 Bedford St. (many condominium owners)
Sent letter 8/14 re accessibility of entrance to Moore Companies, 74 Bedford St. Attn. Pat Carney,
Manager. No reply as of 9/21. 862-3518.
Burlington Mall
Pat Kane, Cari Luterman and Nancy Blackmore Ratey (Community Compliance Coordinator, Mass.
Office on Disability)were seeking to convince Burlington Mall that they should make scooters available to
customers with disabilities. Bill Lewis, Burlington ADA Coordinator and Veterans' Agent interested.
162 and 166 Bedford St. (MacKay Hardware &Trinity Pharmacy--Scott MacKay 508-692-3346)
Ramp needed at entrance. Mr. MacKay said he would put ramp on Reed Street side. Steve Baran sent
letter 8/14 asking for progress report. No further word; will write to Mr. MacKay giving him 10 days to reply
No reply as of 9/21/94.
Comprehensive Care Plan for mentally disabled
Marion Shepp is involved in Department of Mental Health planning for Metro West area. Kathy
Lavache would like to work with Marion.
3 Countryside Village
Side door used by a number of people in wheelchairs is hard to open; threshold needs repair. Linda
Clarke who has MS would like to know if doorway can be button-operated since she has trouble getting key in
door and opening with one hand. Steve Baran to make home visit. Christine Chase may get her a VCR since
her condition prevents her from reading more than one page.
Grab bar/toilet room regs (30.5.4)
Carl Luterman disagrees with these regs. Cari will discuss with Mass. Office on Disability
Hearing Imnairment
Rick Safford and Christine Chase investigating feasible alternatives, including low cost Chinese-made
product which they are proceeding to test. Latest cost estimate is $135 for transmitter and receivers ® $35.
Rick Safford is testing equipment at Cary Hall.
Lexington Ridge
See correspondence from Steve Frederickson, Building Commissioner, and Emily Silverberg re
infractions.
Lowell Street and Middlesex Tumnike
Steve Baran is requesting plans from Peter Kelley for this new housing development.
Lowell St. and Woburn St
Nancy Blackmore Ratey has pressed Mass. Highway for completion. They have promised curb cuts in
1995 and changes in traffic signal sequencing soon. See letter.
727 Marren Rd. (Sheraton Tara)
Christine Chase investigating re wheelchair access to lower function rooms; inadequate signage to rear
lower entrance; ceiling height of main entrance for wheelchair van; ramp pitch at rear entrance. See letter.
1710 Mass. Ave. (outside of Lemon Grassi
Peter Chalpin of Engineering Department is seeking a variance for curb cut which would cost $2,000 to
fully meet specifications; want support of ADA Coordinator
Safety
Ann Irving available to do training for Town employees regarding repetitive strain injuries. Town is
undertaking a safety study
School Denartment Administration Building
Bob Harris and Nancy Blackmore Ratey re installation of ramp at School Administration Building. John
Moynihan awaiting O.K. from Historic Buildings Commission.
Sheraton Tara
No elevator; steps at main entrance. Peter Alford in Boston handles ADA for Sheraton hotels - 367-
3600. Christine Chase has provided them with copy of Title III Highlights.
New set of Mass. regs coming out at the end of the year.

Widely distributed in community by Christine Chase with editorial notice in Minuteman.
114 Waltham St. (Alfred P &Gladys Tropeano, Trustees, Lexington Professional Building). Kathy
Gips of Mass. Office on Disability has mailed a copy of 28 CFR 36 to Mr. Tropeano.
No response as of 9/21 to 8/17 letter requesting report on compatibility with ADA requirements.
130 Waltham St. (Lexington Arts & Crafts)
Sent letter on 8/11/94 requesting report on extent to which building meets ADA requirements.
