The minutes of the January 13 meeting were accepted as written. FINANCIAL REPORT' Donald Graham presented two reports for the second FY'99 quarter; one for the Town Appropriation Budget and the Other Income Budget. The Town Budget indicates that expenses are on schedule. Income on the other budget comes from grants from the Federal government, Minuteman Home Care, the State Office of Elder Affairs, as well as donations from the FCOA. There were questions about the clarity of the two budgets. Don welcomed suggestions and will present a revised format at the next Board meeting. EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORT Barbara Rubin reported on the all day program scheduled for Wednesday, March 24 (snow date March 26), to celebrate Women's National History Month. The title is WOMEN PUTTING YOUR STAMP ON AMERICA, with the tentative program to include Senator Patricia McGovern as the keynote speaker Miriam Butts will present a program on women in art, and there will be three workshops and musical entertainment following lunch. LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT Clark reported on the February 5 visit to the Jenks Senior Center in Winchester Their organization is divided between the COA and the Winchester Senior Assoc., a private group that raises up to $35,000 annually There are two directors, a nurse, a part-time administrator, and a shared secretary It is a beautiful facility with two large dining rooms, one of which is rented for functions. There are classrooms and a small library A visit to the facility in Sudbury is planned in March. FACILITY NEEDS DISCUSSION: Chris Gelling, Program Coordinator, distributed calendars to show the various programs and activities scheduled for the use of the five rooms during the month of March, 1999. Some of the rooms are used for Adult Education Daytime classes. There are 130 slots per month, with only 17 openings left for March. The dining room is occupied every afternoon; office space is inadequate. Discussion of the Board members with Chris elicited the following suggestions to consider for a new center two large multi-purpose rooms, one with a stage; an exercise room; several small rooms (similar to the conference room); adequate storage space; additional bathrooms; a coat room; possibly a gift shop; an arts and craft room; a video room; a professional kitchen; and a small kitchen for use by smaller groups. It would also be desirable to be able to use the facility on nights and weekends; and adequate parking is a must. JIM NICOLORO PRESENTATION TO THE BOARD: Copies of the correspondence between Mr Nicoloro and the Board were distributed. Jackie Davison reported on the long history of the controversy and suggested that in order to bring closure to the issue, Mr Nicoloro be invited to speak before the Board. He will be invited to the March 10 meeting and placed last on the agenda. Jackie will chair that portion of the meeting. TRUSTEES REPORT Peg Jemison reported that there had been a communication problem with the Muzzey Trustee Board; she had not been notified of the last two meetings.
