CHAIRPERSON'S REMARKS: Clark Cowen called the meeting to order at 4 40 p.m. and
welcomed new member, Jane Trudeau.
The discussion centered around the COA sponsoring a program discussion on the proposed
Override vote. John Curry pointed out that the Selectmen have not voted for a Debt Exclusion
Override as yet and the difficulty of planning such a program before the issues are on the table.
It was pointed our that the last possible deadline for the November Newsletter in Oct. 23; and it is
unlikely that anything definite will be decided before then.
There was a long discussion about the format of the program. Great stress was placed on the
importance of giving both sides equal time to present their viewpoints. A motion was passed
stating "If the Town Meeting votes for an override and the Selectmen vote for an override, the
format for such a program will be for each side to have three representatives give a half-hour
presentation, followed by a question and answer period. The moderator and date for the program
will be decided by the Executive Committee of the COA Board.
The meeting was adjourned at 6 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Phyllis Rand, secretary
