BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 8, 1995

Clark Cowen, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 4 40 p m
He announced that Frank Chen is leaving the Board, and his term
is expiring in June He introduced vests Joan Butler-West and
Anne Scigliano from MMHC
Clark reported on the budget review by Linda Crew Vine and John
Curry before the selectmen The basic message was that level
funding now was acceptable, but with r„ne Senior Center growing
rapidly, more funds might be required next year Clark also
reported on his attendance at the very successful Rotary Dinner
MINUTES OF DECEMBER, 1994, AND JANUARY, 1995, MEETINGS
The minutes of the December 14th meeting were approved; the
minutes of the January 10th meeting were accepted with one cor-
rection--Item 4 on page 2 should read "Jay Kaufman ”
DECORATOR SHOWCASE HOUSE
Joan Butler-West and Anne Scigliano from MMHC presented plans for
their major fund raising event The Designer Showcase House in
Lexington is to be held from September 19th to October 14th It
is a five bedroom colonial at 120 Oakland Street, which will be
decorated by various decorators in the area Parking will be off
site with mini buses transporting visitors to the house
Admission will be $15, $12 for seniors Additional money will be
raised from a commission on the sale of any furnishings, a gift
boutique, a silent auction, raffles and as in a program book
The goal is $100, 000 There are many opportunities for volunteers
SENIOR SERVICE CORP
Clark Cowen, Gene Isotti, Dan Fenn and Jackie Davison met on
January 16th to discuss plans Gene is looking into federal and/

or state sources for funding volunteer programs; Dan is looking
into funding from trustee sources Jackie brought up the status of
a request for $16, 000 to fund a part time coordinator for volunteer
utilization. It was thrown out at the budget hearings Clark sub-
mitted a draft letter to be sent to organizations soliciting in-
terest The letter will be accompanied by a questionnaire, which
has not yet been formulated
At this point in the meeting a water main break with subsequent
flooding forced an abrupt adjournment of the meeting
CONTINUATION OF THE COA FEBRUARY 8TH BOARD MEETING ON FEBRUARY 15TH

DIRECTOR'S REPORT
A revised draft of the cover letter explaining the Senior Service
Corps and a questionnaire were distributed for suggestions, to be
returned to Linda
A report on FY96 budget allocation indicates a line item of $75, 000
for air conditioning the Senior Center
Another handout listed the legislative recommendations for the 1995
session by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs
A midyear evaluation of the tax work-off program was distributed
INTERGENERATIONAL COMMITTEE
Gene Isotti acknowledged the valuable contributions of Frank Chen,
recently resigned Board member Funded by the Lion' s Club, an
intergenerational activities directory is currently being edited
Copies will be available at the COA, Town libraries and Town Hall
Workshops for training teachers to use seniors in school programs
are being held at Estabrook School Bentley College interns are
working at the Senior Center and Lexington High School The Senior
Class at Lexington High School, with backing from the 'Lion's Club
is planning a senior class/senior citizen prom in April special
needs students are preparing "Blizzard Boxes" for distribution to
home delivered meal clients
Steve Baran described the intake process for clients contacting
the Center. A log is kept with date, name, address, telephone,
client concern and outcome Steve will be working with Karen
Santucci and Carolyn Griffith
The meeting was adjourned at 5 30 p m , after which the members
enjoyed the Supper Club meal
