HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-05-23-PBC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes of Wednesday May 23. 2001 meeting in the Construction Trailer on the high school grounds, as approved November 12, 2002. The meeting was called to order at 7 18 p.m. by Chairman Kelley with other PBC members Himmel, Johnson, Kennedy and Touart present. Also attending were Project Manager/Owner s Representative Bill Kealy; Director of School Facilities John Moynihan; Philip Lewis and Gabe Petino of HMFH, School Committee Chairman Robin DiGiammarino; and Selectman Dawn McKenna. Materials distributed included the following Meeting agenda Project Manager s notes of May 23, 2001, with details from Clerks of the works Library contract will be awarded to Alexandra, it was noted, as implied in Item a) of the Project Manager's Report. Town Meeting voted the increased funding. Insurance and building permits will be required. Discussion of Proiect Manager's Report centered first around the need to modify steel supports for the roof air conditioning units at Clarke, a contractor's responsibility to check shop drawings for conformity between trade contractors. The second main topic concerned Peabody and their potential for compounding extra costs of the phase adjustments in the Science (G)Building. Following a conversation, Peabody will have five instead of 71/2 months to complete all work in the building so that students can get in to the facility in September, 2002. In order to facilitate the asbestos abatement and boiler installation should begin in early June. Bowman and Estabrook Schools pronosals were reviewed by several committee members and the whole committee agreed that three architects should be interviewed at a meeting next week. The three are Icon, Roberts and TLCR, who will be asked to give an abbreviated presentation with small staff. Discussions with the State Department of Education are now taking place over what adaptations the schools must undertake to accommodate the needs of the hearing impaired.
