TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS
PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE
Minutes of Wednesday October 9 2002 meeting at the Lexington High School
Construction Trailer, as approved November 12, 2002.
Chairman Peter Kelley called the meeting to order at 7.10 p.m. with other PBC members,
Philip Poinelli, Jonathan Himmel, Mary Lou Touart, Richard Sperandio, Carl Oldenburg,
and Peter Johnson present. Owner's Representatives attending were Bill Kealy, Project
Manager, Dan Vallee, Assistant Project Manager, Gary Kaczmarek, Clerk of Works and
Paul McGonagle, Director of Facilities. Also in attendance were Gabe Petino from
HMFH and Terrence Sturm and Stephen Hale from Stephen Hale, Architects and
Associates (SHAA).
Peabody Change Order(CO)No. 24 for$1.103 with credits of$3.254 was introduced by
Gabe Petino. The School Department will be reimbursing the project for the lines in the
gym. A motion was made by P Poinelli to pay the CO and seconded by P Johnson.
Motion approved.
Peabody's September Reauisition in the amount of$242.504 was approved by a motion
by P Poinelli and seconded by P Johnson. G. Petino stated that the next Payment
Requisition would be more substantial as all were pushing to finish within the next
month. P Poinelli asked Petino to check the General Conditions of the contract.
Proiect Manager. B. Kealv reported on the construction nroiects.
An alkyd base paint is being applied in 5 coats to paint the lines on the High School gym
floor.
The boilers in the High School were turned on last Saturday and are running manually
Affidavits have been received from the engineers and the monetized punchlists are done.
Peabody Construction has replaced their Program Manager, Sid Massaro with Ron Votta,
who will close out the project.
Looming, seeding and moving of the trailers are to be done during the fall planting season
and are the final jobs left to do.
At the Middle Schools, the monetized punchlists are ongoing. Eastern will be paid
according to punchlist items done.
Meetings are ongoing for the Harrington project,while the designs for the Fiske school
are being reviewed and commented on by area residents.
The Library project is 40% complete.

MEP trades are working on the lower levels of the Library, with winterizing and heat as
the foremost issues to be dealt with.
Roofing is proceeding. Slate installation is being done, except hips and ridges are on
hold until the fmal roof layout plan and details are approved.
The Alexandra Payment Reauisition for $266.210.85 was reviewed by T Sturm. Sturm
stated that the contract was to finish in March and that 60%of the General Conditions has
been requisitioned, although construction is 40% complete. The Payment Requisition
was approved for payment after P Poinelli made motion to pay with C. Oldenburg
seconding.
A discussion on the stucco finish at the Library began following T Sturm handing out
sheets detailing the "Types of Stucco Finishes" and conies of Work Changes Proposal
Reauest#009
The specifications and details of Work Changes Proposal Request No. 009 were
discussed at length. PBC requested that the Architect complete the specifications and
details, and make them available for PBC review next week, prior to issuance to the
Contractor.
It was agreed that stucco installation before spring is unlikely, and that the temporary
means of weather proofing are necessary Therefore, exterior assembly details shall be
developed which allow windows to be installed months before the stucco.
