PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE
Minutes of Wednesday August 30. 2000 meeting in the Conference Room, School
Administration Building, as approved January 3, 2001.
The meeting was called to order at 7 12 p.m. by Chairman Kelley with other PBC members
Himmel, Johnson, Kennedy Poinelli and Touart present. Also attending were Director of School
Building Operation John Moynihan, Project Director/Owner's Representative Bill Kealy and
School Committee Chairman Robin DiGiammarino.
Report from Proiect Director Kealy told that even though school opening is only a few days
away, all three schools under construction will open on time. Concrete sidewalks are being
poured and will be in for start of school. The art room curtain wall is to be finished Tuesday or
Wednesday with green glass. Moving in is to be done by the schools. Manpower for floor tiling
has been a difficulty, but work will be done on Saturday and Sunday insofar as possible, but
some of the floor work may have to wait until winter break. The entry road and temporary bus
turn-around at Diamond is just done and are paved. The needed sanding of the Diamond floor
surfaces was done by the contractor. Levelastic was used where necessary On the whole the
middle schools are on or ahead of schedule. All 20 classrooms at Clarke will be ready
Construction progress will be reported to the parents by the principals. Air quality testing will be
done at each school all over after opening, with recommendations on how to correct any
problems such as seals that need tightening.
