The meeting was called to order at 7 13 p.m. by Chairman Kelley with other PBC members Cannalonga, Johnson, Kennedy, Poinelli and Touart present. Also attending were School Committee Chairman Robin DeGiammarino, Project Manager/Owner's Representative Bill Kealy and Philip Lewis of HMFH. Distributed: a compendium of the Elementary Capital Plan, from 2/99 through 2/00. Additional materials were passed around and collected again. Short list of firms who submitted elementary school design proposals has been reduced to four, and interview meetings have been scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, November 13 with DRA and Tappe and for 6 p.m. Wednesday November 15 with HMFH and TLCR. The scheduled PBC meeting of November 8 has been canceled, and the chairman will arrange to sign "pencil" copies of the contractors' requisitions before that time. Committee members protested about the earliness of the two interview meetings, requesting that they begin at 7, which the Chairman will try to arrange through John Moynihan. Proiect Manager's report told of meeting with the Superintendent of Schools and HMFH, trying to find solutions to the swing space need that will develop next spring at the middle schools in order that the middle schools project can attain the phasing schedule, contained in the contract. Eastern started two months later than the schedule contained in the bid documents; therefore every effort needs to be explored to achieve a result beneficial to the community The problem still has not been solved. It was thought that space could be found at the high school after the senior class departs early at the end of the school year The high school is looking better, now that Peabody has brought a new carpentry outfit on the job (whom they bought). New floor toppings are to be poured this weekend. Steel delivery and erection had been a problem for the high school library Site light at the high school parking lot are to be connected soon, but will not be turned on until December. Meanwhile, Kealy has seen to it that auxiliary lighting is mounted on the building, and, if needed, on trees. Windows are now being installed and so far they look good. There is a steel problem at Diamond. PBC recommended that the administrative team see to it that contractors keep control of and oversee the whereabouts of long-lead items, such as steel The following change orders were discussed and approved: Peabody Change order#5 for $82, 008.
