Kevin Grimes, Chairman, asked Executive Director Linda Vine to report. 1. Muzzey Trustees have been co-operative on parking and vandalism. � 2 . The Business Expo was very useful; half-a-dozen people came by our booth durinq one period. Friends made money on selling refreshments . We established good relations with the Chamber of Commerce. 3 . Friends put in moveable wall and acoustical ceilings; this will improve the building' s usefulness . 4 . Banking outreach started 10/13 with Lexington Savings on balancing your check book. 5 . Superintendent of schools, Mr. Young, looking for communications and networking and Linda will be meeting with him in a week. Aside from SPANS and related programs, please tell Linda about the topics that should'be raised. 6 . $5,200 was received for daycare transportation for private clients. 7 . Program for elderly abuse with fire department and police department in conjunction with Minuteman Home Care is planned. 8. Looking for two nominees to Minuteman Home Care board. � 9 . Linda needs screening for financial services proposals; there was an extensive discussion. Friends will be approached about fair where all presenters could be invited. adrmc/adn/92docs/70.13.min � � ' � � � � �� A review of SHINE was given by Charles $oth. SHINE stands for "serving the health insurance needs of elders" a state program of volunteers on Medicare, etc. education. Each volunteer has � training and attends monthly meetings to keep current. Each volunteer gives information, not advice. AARP information and Consumers Reports are used in addition to program issued materials . Example: small company' s first retiree didn't know that younger wife had to be covered by health insurance. Long billing cycles causea problems for individuals trying to remember what services were rendered thus they need help on their bills. Choosing 65 Medigap insurance and lqng term care insurance are highest priority to thoae counselled, Muriel Taylor reported on the Client Satisfaction Survey. The Board reviewed the draft form; suggested range of answers and copies of other surveys be investigated. Barbara Rubin reported on the Hispanic Dinner scheduled for November 18; specific assignments were made: Barbara also reported on the Housing Conference planning. 'Jackie Davidson and others were in attendance. The forum and senior needs were the topics . It was decided to use Cary Hall; adult children of seniors are also targets for attending. "Should I sell my home or Reverse Mortgage? " are typical discussion items . The linkage/planning committee report was given by Kevin. The thrust of the first meeting was to consider a workshop where all providers could report on needs and programs . Another meeting � ', has been scheduled for 10/21/92 .
