COUNCI � ON AGING BOARD MEETINQ - JUNE 9 . 1992
Present : Dorothy Boqgia , Kevin Qrimes . Harriet Onello , Beth

Meetina was called to ordar hv Chairoerson � Dorothv Boaaia at
4 : 40 o .m.
Remarks : Dorothv announced her retirement from the COA Board
which was followed bv remarks of thanks and
aooreciation for her leadershin and dedication since
1980 .
Beth Klarman also announced th�t she will leave the
board , Thanks was given to her for her hard work on
� the Senior Health Monitor Proqram.
Kevin Q. oraised the enerpv and leadershia of both
Dorothy and Beth ,
Dorothv will be reblace hv three Co-Chairs ; K.evin
Qrimes . Harriet Onello , and Ed c�rant ,
Minutes of the Aaril meetina were reviewed and the foliowina
comments made :
Linda reported that barkina issues had been addressed
with rogard to Muzzav residents and the suaaestions of �
the board were favorabiv received bv the Trustees .
Attempts will be made to develoo a closer liaison
bet.ween the FCOA and the Hum2n SPrvice Committee ,
Linda , Jackie Davison , and Jim Fenske will serve on a
committee to develop this relationshia .
It was recommended and voted to delete the oortion of
the minutes reaardin4 the Food Pantry report since it
was not on the agenda for the April meetinq .

deficit , A transfer of �6 , 000+ wi11 he made to the
account before the end ofi the fisca 'I vear , Jim
recommends that the program olan a $ . 50 increase as of
1 / 1 /93 .
Linda oroposed a M ,O , W , r.ommittee to review this
oossibilitv , This review should take nlace over the
summer to enahle chanaes to k�e implemenced hv 1 / 1 /y:i ,
Social Day Care continues to show a surplus of funds ,
Cathv P . reoorted that the Town ' s records have be.en
reconciled reaardina t.he incorrec't daia ?nt.ry for FY90
ar�nt monies , The COA rpcords are coi^rec.r, showina a
balance of $6671 ,
Education Report -
Patriot ' s Dav Proaram - Dorothv B , reoarted that the
� orogram was well attended , Neil Cronin snoke on
l.exinaton ' s history which was follow��i bv �atriot. mi.isic
and a make your own sundae activity ,
Housing Proaram - Linda Vine
-Various aaencies and providers ie . Aolice , fire .
handicap services , provided handauts and informeiion.
-Videos were shown on safetv in vour home
-Smoke detectors donated hv 'rCOA were raf 'r" lecl ort
-Refreshments followed
The proqram was well attended , more than usual . a
follow-up proaram on retirement housinq ontions is
planned for October .

We need to find a replacement . and send a letter
oP appreciation ,
-SHINE Program: Suzanne Hill ' s status as a �
volunteerhas ended . Charles Roth of Newton
will reolace her as a SHI'NE counselor , K9vin
Qrimes suggested a SHINE presentation for the
eoard .
-Nutrition Site Manaaer : Rhoda Presti has been
hired to replace Pe4 Stimmell who resianed due
tfl illness . Beth Klarman noted that Rhoda will
be a aood cat� lvst for oositive socializina ,
-Board member : Bob Cushman mav .ioin the board in
the fall , he has resianed from the Human Service
Committee ,

�' , elders with finances . Cambridaeport offered services
also . Discussion results - oben oroaram to other
banks and take an aporoach of aenerally educatinp
peoole ,
3 . Social Day Care uodate from Carolvn Grififith was
oresented , Proaram evaluation bv Minuteman Home Care
was very positive , Linda stated a commit.t.ee needs to
analvze the increase in Dav Care and the decrease in
Meals on Wheels .
4 . Library reports from Anne Novak were distrib�rted .
5 , Senior Health Monitor Propram - Linda stated that.
chanaes in the biddinq iaw excuses biddina but the Town
Manaaer asks that we do an RFP bv Seotember 15 , 1992 ,
Requests will be sent out shortiv .
6 . Successful Proarams -
Health scre9ninas are very successful ; health
lectures less 000ular . We should combine
education with the screenina . SvmmPs Hosnital
is working closely with the senior Center t.o
