REMARKS Terry Gent spoke about being involved over the summer and having met with Linda Vine on several occasions regarding the program and activities for the coming year He has forwarded to each a letter explaining his thoughts MINUTES Gladys Scanlon s name was omitted from "Those Present" This- error was acknowledged and corrected and Minutes of the May Meeting were accepted as read TREASURER' S REPORT Wednell distributed -the year-end FY87 Fiscal report In FY' 87 in the Town Budget there were expenses of $52, 968 , or about $2,500 underbudget He commented on the DEA Grant Fund We started with a balance of about $2,800, we received a little over $10)000 and spent $6600 , so our ending balance built up to $6,700 We have flexibility with these funds and next year will again receive $11,000 That fund we get from the State based on the 60+ population of the town The Selectmen' s Gift Account is an account that the Town Comptroller maintains just for the use of the C 0 A We started with $7,500 and ended with $15000 The reason for the buildup of funds is due to the Social Day Care Program The revenues are higher than expenses and that will be true next year The Friends of C 0 A balance started with $24000 and it ended with $29,000 Pages 2 and 3 show details of expenditures by category We are in good financial condition and should we venture into new fields we are in a position to move ahead without waiting for approval from the Town to appropriate funds Forty percent of the funds that flow through us are now coming from other than Town appropriated funds, not counting the funds from the Friends of the C 0 A Terry Gent remarked that there might be expenses involved in correcting the heating problem in the Center building, which is currently under review Treasurer' s Report Accepted as read DIRECTOR'S REPORT, Linda Vine Open discussion between members about how the heating problem might be handled architecturally, etc - Linda reviewed the Year-end Program Report submitted to the State De- partment of Elder Affairs ACCESSORY APARTMENTS , Conny Foster, Terry Gent On Aug 10 Terry, Linda and Connie met regarding the Oct 8 seminar on Accessory Housing The seminar will be held at the Church of our Redeemer from 10 a m to 3 p m Contactshave been made and letters are being sent to persons who may, or may not, be involved We will also be putting notices in the newspapers about the seminar Terry Gent spoke briefly about how the program could and would benefit various segments of Lexington homeowners & the method of handling the seminar, how it would be paid for, how much should be charged, etc Terry expressed our sadness at the loss of Natalie and Gladys who are leaving us for Arizona and Florida, respectively We are going to miss them both and wish them well We hope they will come back and visit, occasionally Meeting adjourned at 5 40 p m Respectfully submitted, 11 OM J , #1 • II.azkk Mary M &roc Recording Secretary, C 0 A Board L
