HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-01-29-PBC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes of Thursday , January 29 1998 Meeting joint with Cary Library Building Committee in the library Oval Room, as approved March 26, 1998 The meeting was called to order by Library Building Committee Chairman and PBC member Walter Pierce at 7 32 p m with PBC members Kelley, Lucker (also of Library Building Committee) Poinelli , and Touart present Library Director Carol Mahoney, staff member Julie Triessl , Shirley Stolz , Minuteman reporter Eva Heney, Engineer Jonathan Longley and Douglass family members Arthur, Jewell and Brett, as well as Design Advisory Committee members John Frey, Karen Bechtel , Stacey Bridge, Bruce Creager, Carl Oldenburg and Steven Hurley, also were present Ar- chitects Stephen Hale, Melissa Bennett attended, distributing a list of variances the library has applied for from the Board of Appeals at a February 12 hearing Architects progress report noted that the Design Development stage is now ending and preparation of contract documents about to begin Applications to the state for reimbursement were based upon schematics Supporting documents for the variance application, as listed in the sheets distributed, have been filed with the Board of Appeals Salient variances requested include an excess of 12 inches building height above 2 1/2 stories, setbacks less than zoning regulations, and a reduced number of parking spaces from the present number Three floor plan drafts were displayed, as well as sketch elevation drawings Noted that views from the ground differed from views for library users Design Advisory Committee members reported favorably on the plans , with a few reservations about building envelope materials Meeting adjourned at 8 50 p m Respectfully submitted, Erna S Greene Secretary
