that he gave a scheduling update to the architects yesterday Kelley

Fiske School cost estimates are in progress The school would be
designed for a 415-pupil capacity plus the early childhood education
center Cost estimates from Daedalus for a new school and for fix-up of
the old Fiske were passed out The equipment listed is for built-in

cost In Lexington the markup for furniture would be 7 2 percent, since
incomplete furniture replacement is planned Kelley asked for a review
of the 30 percent project costs Committee members and Moynihan
questioned the accuracy of some of the estimates in view of their
experience Replacement of the univents at Fiske and recent experience

Harrinaton School proposed alternate plan were shown by Ms Hayes
Plans that were previous shown the committee were tightened and a
courtyard entirely enclosed Committee expressed concern about the
sustained and continuous maintenance of the enclosed area, but Principal
Crump liked the idea, noting that the staff would work hard to see that
the space is kept up A second alternative showed a two-story wing
jutting out from the right side of the main entrance This would
contain the early education center and kindergartens as well as two
isolated regular classrooms The one-story addition with courtyard was
clearly preferred by Crump
Hastings School enlarged library at the present location was approved by
the committee Hayes informed the committee that three self-contained
501 24 program rooms are in the six elementary schools - one each at
Hastings and two at Bridge These serve severely disabled pupils who

Diamond Middle School brought forth plans A through F from the
architects Plan A would increase the school area from 31 ,000 to 36,000
square feet , while Plan B, a two-story addition on the back of the
building up the hill would increase the school to 37 ,000 square feet
Plan C, wrapping around the cafeteria at the level of the rest of the
school rather than that of the cafeteria, would increase the size of the
school to 37 , 900 square feet but this was not favored by the committee
Rather they favored plans D and E, which add in the gymnasium area with
minor impact on the present drop-off area Committee recommended that
Joanne Hennessey see these, along with elevations
