HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-04-22-BOH-min (Tri Ton Coalition Advisory Board) Tri-Ton Coalition Advisory Board Burlington.Lexington.Wilmington Tri-Ton Coalition Advisory Board Meeting Meeting Minutes April 22, 2024 11:00 to 12:00 pm Via Webex Attendees: Susan Lumenello, Director Burlington Board of Health, Joanne Belanger, Director Lexington Board of Health, Shelly Newhouse, Director Wilmington Board of Health, and Katie Capobianco, Shared Services Coordinator I. Approval of Minutes • Susan made a motion, seconded by Joanne, to approve the March 20, 2024 meeting minutes- motion approved. II. Update on Community Outreach Position • The first individual declined the positon as she was looking for a remote only job. The second person was contacted to set up a second interview and she did not respond. The positon is going to be re-advertised. • Joanne requested that the job posting be sent her to be posted in Lexington. III. Programs and Public Health Initiatives • Shelly said Rashod did a great job at the Stop the Bleed (STB)training in Wilmington. There were 15 people trained and there are another 25 people signed up for this Thursday. Burlington will be sending two MRC volunteers to assist on Thursday and Susan will send 25 STB kits for the participants. Shelly would like to potentially schedule a third STB in the future. • Joanne said Rashod did a great job at the narcan training for Public Health Week in Lexington. He is also doing great at the shelter, has assisted at the immunization clinic, and helped an individual that needed to go to the hospital. • Susan advised that Rashod has been working two days a week but will be starting to work three days a week soon. He is CPR/AED certified to run a class and will be doing his first one on May 16'h for the BOH and shared services staff. He can run a class for between six to eight people and we now have the videos and mannequins. • Katy is working with Tahycha on tobacco statistics for reporting purposes. She is looking at cigar pricing and density. Katie will check with Katy and Tahycha to see if they are 1h available to attend the next Tri-Ton Advisory Board Meeting on May 15 . Tri-Ton Coalition Advisory Board Burlington.Lexington.Wilmington • Katie advised that she followed up with North Andover regarding using PHE funds to conduct a community health assessment. They said they did not use PHE funds for a CHA. Under the PHE allowable expenses guidelines funds cannot be used for a CHA. • Joanne said maybe Katy can work on a small scale gathering of information pertaining public health issues that would be helpful to our communities as opposed to a full CHA. • Joanne advised that the screening of Below the Belt was very well received. There was great participation and the doctor was very good. • There was discussion regarding a second showing of the film in Burlington in June 2024. Joanne will provide Katie with Melanie Alexander-Tanionos' information to reach out to her to see when the doctor may be available in June. Katie will check with AMC and Grandview Farms as possible locations to hold the screening. • Joanne advised that she would like to have Life Guard signs translated from English to Haitian Creole, Mandarin and Spanish. Joanne will send the information to Katie and she will have the work completed through Propio. IV. Tobacco Funding • Shelly advised that it would be a good idea to start thinking about hemp as the smoke shops are now selling it and there are no regulations regarding it. She is asking the Wilmington board to ban flavored rolling papers. The state is just starting to look into the sale of hemp. Some have THC/CBD in them and there are no regulations so they cannot be told to stop selling it. She is going to have Tahycha do a spreadsheet on which stores are selling hemp. • Tahycha is done with inspections in Burlington and Wilmington and will be starting Lexington next. Burlington will be starting compliance checks on weekends in May. Compliance checks will start in June for Lexington and Wilmington. • Tahycha is tied in many meetings with Mary Brush. She is currently taking the soil evaluators class, will be doing beaches in Wilmington with Shelly and pools in Burlington with Marlene. V. New Business • The new budget and work plan is due in May and Katie is going to start working on the budget portion of it. Joanne will not be able to attend the next meeting scheduled for May 15''.
