John Moynihan-LPS
John Moynihan outlined the project scope and schedule with the key points being an April
town meeting vote to fund the first stage of the design, an override to fund the final
design/construction/renovation in the fall of 1997, and start of construction sometime after
the Spring of 1998. We then talked about specific issues concerning the design of the
Bridge School. The specific issues mentioned were:
1 Current number of girls bathrooms is inadequate.
2. Coat area should be decentralized and located just outside each classroom to allow
teachers to supervise coat areas and classrooms at the same time.
3 Interior rooms have no view Lighting is not good. Ventilation is not good. It was
suggested that no regular classrooms be located in interior rooms. These rooms are
probably better for learning center, music, art or other special use rooms where the child is
not in a room with no view for the whole day
4. Office needs view of front door for security
5 Need view from car to school door at parent drop-off area for security
6. Site plan has been done by SBC/safety committee? John Moynihan to get copy for PBC
7 Exterior lighting is inadequate.
8. A physical barrier should prevent cars from going from parking areas to paved
playground areas.
9 Keep separate drives for buses and parent drop-off.
10. Sound barriers needed for ceilings/ductwork for privacy in current office and guidance
areas.
11. Power assist door to be added as part of ADA.
12. Moveable walls between classrooms are not currently used. The current ones are hard
to operate and not very sound proof. Some will not close all the way It was not clear
whether the moveable wall should be upgraded or replace with fixed walls.
13 Cafeteria acoustics and air quality are very bad.
