HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-03-27-LEX250-min Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) March 27 Meeting Minutes Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a hybrid format in the Parker Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Wednesday, March 27 at 4:30 PMby Ms. Barry as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present in person: Suzie Barry, Select Board Member, Chair Doug Lucente, Select Board Member Mona Roy, Community Representative, Vice Chair Noah Michelson, Community Representative, Clerk Jane Hundley, LPS 6-8 Social Science Department Head Ashley Rooney, Community Representative Cleve Coats, Community Representative Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Tom Colatosti, Community Representative Jillian Tung, Music &Arts Representative Bebe Fallick, Tourism Committee Representative Bridger McGaw, Community Representative Julie O'Leary, Civic Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Barry Cunha, Business Representative Paul O'Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative Sandhya Iyer, Economic Development Director Staff from John Guilfoil Public Relations Present remotely: John Rossi, Commission on Disability Liaison Staff from Anthem Group • The meeting was called to order at 4:41 PM my Ms. Barry • Announcements o At their April 3 meeting, the Select Board will be discussing dignitary invitations to the 250th celebrations o April 4 is the next collaborative meeting, held at the Concord Armory. o April 10 is the expected date that Town Meeting will take up both 250th related articles, 24 and 46. o The monument selection committee has reviewed all semi-finalists and is expected to have a decision soon. • Community Meeting Information Next Steps o Mr. Lucente presented a summary report of the feedback received at the January 30 community meeting. The report categorized the feedback into the following: ■ Arts and Exhibitions ■ Historical and Educational Events ■ Interactive and Community Engagement ■ Cultural and Diversity Celebrations ■ Entertainments and Social Gatherings ■ Commemorative Items and Collectibles ■ Parades and Outdoor Activities ■ Food and Drink ■ Environmental and Public Space Enhancements ■ Special Events and Partnerships o The next step is to choose key items from these lists for the commission to take on, fold into existing planned events, or identify partners to act upon the ideas. • Transportation Update o The Inter-Municipal Agreement (IMA) team met earlier and discussed transportation coordination and fleet needs for Patriot' Day Weekend 2025. Service will be needed for Friday April 18 through Sunday April 20. All four towns have different needs and priorities that need to be identified in order for the Request for Proposals (RFP) to be written. ■ Needs discussed included identifying satellite parking areas, addressing parade participant access, ensuring staff parking space, and the possibility of shuttling participants and visitors across communities. • April 19, 2040 One Year to Go Event o Construction of the countdown calendar is progressing well. o The small group has been working on planning the festivities. o An update was given on dignitary invitations. ■ The British Consul General in Boston and French Consul General in Boston have both accepted the invitation, with other invitations pending. JGPR will give final suggestions at the end of the week. • July 13, 20204 Parker's Prelude Event o The addition of a cake cutting portion will have potential impacts on the previously agreed upon schedule. ■ It is recommended to change the fife and drum performance to 12-12:20 PM, the children's chorus to 12:30-1 PM, and have the cake cutting at 1 PM lead directly into the honk band performance. • JGPR Update o JGPR is working with Town IT to ensure access to the Commission's social media accounts. • Other Business o There is a push from the Secretary of the Commonwealth to hold a reenactment of Paul Revere and William Dawes' ride along the entire historical route. • Next Meeting: April 10th at 4:30 PM • The meeting was adjourned at 5:51 PM Respectfully Submitted, Noah Michelson
