HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-03-20-LEX250-min Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) March 20, 2024 Meeting Minutes Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a hybrid format in the Parker Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Wednesday March 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM by Ms. Barry as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present in person: Suzie Barry, Select Board Member, Chair Doug Lucente, Select Board Member Mona Roy, Community Representative, Vice Chair Noah Michelson, Community Representative, Clerk Jane Hundley, LPS 6-8 Social Science Department Head Cleve Coats, Community Representative Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Tom Colatosti, Community Representative Jillian Tung, Music &Arts Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Barry Cunha, Business Representative Present remotely: Julie O'Leary, Civic Representative John Rossi, Commission on Disability Liaison Sandhya Iyer, Economic Development Director Staff Members from John Guilfoil Public Relations (JGPR) Absent: Ashley Rooney, Community Representative Bebe Fallick, Tourism Committee Representative Bridger McGaw, Community Representative Paul O'Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative • The meeting was called to order at 4:02 PM by Ms. Barry • Website Discussion & Decision o Two people are needed to help write historical content for the website; currently it has too much purely tourist information. ■ Jane and Mona volunteered; will reach out for help from Visitor's Center, Lexington Minutemen, and JGPR. ■ Mona will also reach out to LexSeeHer, ABCL, and a possible third group about "untold stories" content. o The website will have a section about the Commission, and a group photo is needed. ■ Prior to the next meeting, the Commission will meet in Cary Hall to take a picture. o A tagline is needed for the top of the website. ■ "Honoring the Past Inspiring the Future" was chosen by a straw poll of 8-5 o Sponsor categories and names need to be decided on. ■ The fundraising small group will report back with sponsor level names by next meeting. o An option is available to have a form on the website for events to be submitted for addition to the calendar. ■ A small group of Mona, Jillian, and Cleve will vet submitted events before bringing them to the whole group for approval. • This procedure may change with changing needs. ■ Events will be filtered into categories • Lecture, Arts and Music, Family Friendly, Accessibility, Children, Free, Dance, Sports, Outside, Living History, Community Engagement • Parker's Prelude o The schedule for Parker's Prelude requires adjusting due to the addition of a cake cutting ceremony.
