HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-08-10-PBC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes of August 10 1989 committee meeting in Room G-15, Town Office Building, as approved September 14 , 1989 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kennedy at 7 37 , with other committee members Edson, Johnson, John Kennedy and Touart present Also attending were staff Coscia and Maclnnes and consultant Rowlands of Chartwell Minutes of June 8 1989 committee meeting were approved as amended with list of attendees Cary Library final payment reaffirmation VOTED High School Handicapped Chairlift will require variance because the remaining corridor width is now less than code for fire exit TAMS will file application for this Progress reported verbally on remaining schools ' work Only about $200 , 000 worth of work remains on the library projects At Diamond carpet is scheduled to be installed next week, and at Fiske only painting and carpeting remain All will be finished at the end of August, with only some punch list items stretching into September The wide door at the high school is done; only the electrician' s (Crowley' s) trailer remains parked next to the Field House Poor quality of carpenters working with J P noted An inspection tour was scheduled for Wednesday, August 16th at 11 a m , for all available committee members Uncommitted funds remaining $22, 110 Field House Roof Morello is back in the picture He has said he will bring PVC below the skylites for $12, 500 Chairman advised that these terms be accepted Extra flashing will also be added at the hips However, underlayment will not be changed Noted that damage to ceiling tiles under roof has been considerable (including some preexisting damage) VOTED to accept Morello ' s offer, with the $12,500 to come from the contract, unless completion of already committed work usurps all funds Other remainina problems At Clark Middle School the vents were cleaned a month ago and the balancing has to be redone At the High School the leak around the J-house drain pipe is to be repaired with a new boot purchased from school budget to be installed by Morello (whose firm now is Atec Roofing Company) TAMS Settlement payment ($116 ,730) is being requested by Chairman Only the language of the accompanying settlement statement is being contested Noted that TAMS is still doing well on the job, and that their engineers Amtech are also still functioning 1 PSC Minutes 8/10/89 Payment of Invoices as recommended and listed by Chartwell VOTED approved Committee Personnel and future Chairman Kennedy reported that Town Manager has requested the committee to continue existing after completing the school renovation project He also stated that he is seeking a new chairman for the committee Committee members wished Jim Maclnnes a hanpy retirement as he will no longer be on the job when the next committee meeting - Thursday, September 14, 1989, at 7 30 p m - is scheduled Meeting adjourned at 8 41 p m Respectfully submitted, Czt SFJ &cc Erna S Greene, Secretary to the Committee 2
