HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-12-17-PBC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS PERMANENT BUILDING COMMITTEE December 17 , 1987 The meeting was called to order in the Oval Room at Cary Library by the Chairman, William P Kennedy at 7 30 P.M Members present were Mary Louise Touart , Ann Wallace, Theodore M Edson, James Scanlon, and David Smith Sheldon Spector was present representing the Capital Expenditures Committee, and Marilyn Mairson was present representing the Appropriation Committee The Library Director, Robert C Hilton, was also present Proposals from each of the architectural firms to be interviewed were distributed to the members (copies on file), as was a grid noting the factors in the process along with the names and appointment times for the three firms on the short list (copy on file) The first presentation was made by Robert Stickles of Architects and Associated Designers , Inc , at 7 45 P.M. The second presentation was made by John Davies and M Wyllis Bibbins of Davies and Bibbins at 8 30 P.M In addition to their proposal as submitted, they had prepared and distributed a summary of the work and of their proposed costs which was dated December 17, 1987 The total of this is $15,000 (Copy on file ) The third presentation was made by Peter Blaisdell and James Minifie of Kendall, Taylor and Company at 9 30 P.M. In addition to their proposal as submitted, they had prepared and distributed three sketches of the type of work they might do in different areas of the Library (Copies on file ) At 10 30 P.M the Committee discussed the relative merits of the proposals in relation to selection factors and the grid noted above Based on library and related experience, and responsiveness to Cary's proposal for space planning and mechanical work, the ratings were Davies and Bibbins first , A and AD second and Kendall, Taylor third Based on references obtained by the Director the same order was repeated. Davies and Bibbins was also rated first on the financial aspects of fees and stability It was VOTED to recommend to the Manager that the contract be awarded to Davies and Bibbins Respectfully submitted, Robert C Hilton Secretary pro tem.
