Low bidder was Cutler at $165 IOC The budget reported ir bid specs and KLO report was $338 OnO Concern was e!.pressed about the roof condition vs the specifications Onl one bidder acknowledgeu Addendum 1 of the specs Committee asked Aitchison to telephone Mr Ouan about the discrepancy Bridge School Coatroom choice between wooden cubbies and metal lockers. Maclnnes asked if the committee would reject the wooden structures as the teachers have voted to have lockers and carpet instead VOTED by committee to reject wooden cubbies Maclnnes was instructed to get going on putting out bid requests for- lockers and carpet Briggs Associates representative Ralph Noblen appeared at ' 58 p m (Aitchison previously noted that he had checked Briggs references and they came across very well ) The moisture protection division of the 120-person Briggs firm comprises ten people Noblen reported that the best time to bid for roofing is spring Now would be OK too The total job would probably be divided for more than one contractor An infrared camera could be used to check e; isting roof conditions as an option at additional cost Rubber membrane would be the preferred material When asked about the high school field house roof Noblen recommended getting rid of the skylights In any case the total roofing job could be done before the beginning of school year 1987-88 With good luck the high school would take two months He stated that roofing could be done in winter but weather is a risk and iL is more expensive When asked if roofing could be done by June, he thought that would be possible In response to committee s quer-, on asbestos Nobler, called it a problem Kees Associates Peter deMatteo and Robert Vogel appeared next The firm has three offices The Waltham office employs 45 to provide full service They called themselves an experienced "old firm with most employees of in to 15 years duration The most notable nearby project of the firm was Waltham High School in 1966 Following a slide show of Keyes' new and renovation projects the committee posed questions 1 Laurence Who do you use for cast estimating'? Bidding could take place in February or March but the engineers hinted that the scope of the project might have to be adjusted.
