School Committee designees Mary Lou Touart and Ken Laurence introduced themselves as well as Ted Edson. Bill Kennedy gave a brief review of the last meeting and pointed out that we were trying to establish a list of priorities and thus the Town and the schools were requested to identify things that they know are wrong right now He pointed out that the hope was to develop a master plan of priorities for a proposal to Town Meeting in the Spring The School Administration has not prepared a detailed list but is in the process of doing so. Ken Laurence and Mary Lou Touart will work to expedite that process Mr Laurence suggested that they may want to get student input on this Mr Scanlon said that should be a function of the school system and not this Committee Chairman Kennedy asked the group to focus on process and it was agreed that 1 A tour of Town and school facilities would take place looking at the list of priorities prepared by school and Town. 2 Major items would be the focus of the proposal - $25,000 and above 3 A scope of services would be trafted for engineering assistance after a tour of the facilities 4 The first tour would be on September 11 of the municipal facilities, starting from the Main Fire House at 8 00 A.M. Bill Kennedy asked the Committee to think about the idea of a Vice Chairman to run meetings in the absence of the Chairman Considerable discussion took place by the Committee over the need of establishing priorities and recognizing that the schools are going through programmatical changes that could cause plant reconfigurations The Manager pointed out that the primary emphasis would have to be the continuation of existing buildings and if we cannot enhance facilities with new configurations, the primary emphasis had to be taking care of the plant as it is The next regularly scheduled meeting will be at 7 30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 18 at the Town Office Building The Meeting adjourned at 8 50 P.M. with everyone scheduled to meet on September 11 at 8 00 A.M. at the Fire Station at 45 Bedford Street Respectfully submitted, Robert M. Hutchinson, Jr Town Manager
