Minutes of the Meeting of July 23, 1985
Present Bill Kennedy, Herb Grossimon, Al Daniels, Town Manager Bob Hutchinson,
DPW Manager Administration/Facilities Manny Coscia, Management

Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order and asked Bob Hutchinson, the
Town Manager, to introduce the committee members
The Manager submitted a charge to the committee with a target date for
completion of the committee work of February 1 , 1986 Bill Kennedy and other
members of the committee questioned the breadth of the charge but said that they
could try to design their program to meet the deadline
A discussion of the committee's general purpose followed Bob Hutchinson
pointed out that the hope is that the committee would produce a master plan for
long-term maintenance of Town buildings, particularly school buildings , so that
the Town's capital investment will be protected Members raised and discussed
various questions about the topic It was agreed that the committee's purpose
and scope will be discussed, clarified, and defined in the next few weeks
It was also agreed that the committee's immediate task (after a definition
of scope and purpose) is to visit buildings and talk with those who know about
existing building maintenance problems Once problems are identified and
prioritized, a consultant will be hired for more extensive work.
For the next meeting Bob will provide
1 ) Lists of building maintenance problems and projects drawn up
by the School Department and by the Town
2) A list of individuals aware of building problems (custodians ,
school officials , etc ) who can speak with the committee
Bill Kennedy will speak with Ted Edson and Jim Scanlon about finding an
appropriate consultant. Herb Grossimon and Al Daniels stressed the importance
of working together with the School Committee to produce the building
maintenance master plan
It was agreed that meetings will be held on Wednesday evenings The next
meeting will be on Wednesday, August 21 in Room G-15 of the Town Office Building
at 730 PM
