The meeting :yes Galled to order by Chairman Rooney at 4:35 p.m. The minutes of the
meeting or Jur 11 were unanimously accepted.
Rooney thenket. Bill Sen for his services as chairman of the CoA. He requested all
Council -erbazs to read and become aware of the open meeting law which they will find
stapled into =hair Folders. He thanked Town Manager Hutchinson for the expanded
space given to CoA
Hutchinson re:-2onded that hopefully the money will be made available for the in-
creased cent erom the Trustees of Public Trust.
OTIOht '"ove_, seconded, and passed unanimously that, on a trial basis beginning
in SrMember, Council meetings be scheduled on the second Tuesday of the
-onto at 4.30 p.m to avoid the inconvenience of night meetings
Jendell =sno ,y was introduced by Joan Melcher as Volunteer Treasurer. He reported
a balance of $39 in the treasury as of June 30. He further reported that the fol-
lowing funds have been exhausted. Gift Fund, minubus Fund, and Young-at-Heart
Sinners' orant.
Tropeano quest._oned unpaid bills due the Senior Citizens Club. Melcher explained
that because of the death of Mr. Carlson, there was some delay in payment of bills,
but those outstanding are now in the process of being paid.
'OTION 1°ovsd by Rubin, seconded by Sen, and passed unanimously to accept Benway's
reeo=t as presented.
Hutchinson suggested re-checking CoA operational budget at the next meeting of the
Council Benway and Melcher will look at breaking down the CoA budget into work-
able components
Melcher reported:
1 Reorganization of office procedures

3. The Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, September 13. An organizational
meeting will be held this week
4. 7cr* must be begun now on the 1980 annual report as well as on next year's
budoet.
5. Gail Colwell was introduced as a new volunteer office staff worker and pub-
licity oerson.

1. :eve an explanation of the development of the Town budget and the effect,
y, of Proposition 2-1/2 (if adopted) on the town's finances and on
ire_ idual Human Services Agencies like the CoA
2. S;:..gested that CoA occasionally send a representative to a meeting of the
Se_ec.tmen in order to keep them informed about the CoA's activities.
3. Sut sted that the CoA view all its operations in the light of existing
con;:e_ .ions; these conditions may be present physical arrangements and
striraent budgeting, or they may be more hopeful with a vision of a
renovated school building or even a new location.
4 Prospective candidates for the Council on Aging are currently being in-
terviewed.
5 Eest, ica Phear has been appointed interne working from the Town Manager's
off ce .n the field of Human Services. She will head the CoA's needs
asseesment survey
^'alt=er stated that the CoA plans to send its monthly Newsletter (beginning with
the Sept=-bar issue) to those Town Meeting members who, because they are not yet
six'y years u,L , are not presently on the mailing list. She and/or Rooney, as well
as other Souncal members, plan to attend all precinct meetings, various Lexington
crcen_zations and churches, totalk about CoA

There will be no Council meeting in August. The next regular meeting will be held
on Tuesday, September 9, at 4.30 p.m
